-Thursday-
I agreed to help Miss Snow in the library for detention today. Her and the librarian ordered boxes full of new books for the library since they both felt like not many people like the books that are currently in here.
The librarian, Eleanor, is sick today so she couldn't come in, leaving Miss Snow to organise these books by herself. I know that other students were helping, I saw them when me and Melody were in here Monday.
Speaking of Melody, I haven't spoken to her much today. Charlie's parents are going out of town for the night and he invited me over for a sleepover before the party tomorrow. He said I should invite Melody over and we can stay in his guest bedroom...I could ask her but I don't know if she would be up to it.
It's worth a shot anyway.
I look around, making sure Miss Snow isn't in the same aisle as me before I take my phone out.
Diana
Hey, Charlie's parents are out of town, he told me to invite you over for the night, or even for a while. You can invite Ciara too, he doesn't mind. :)Melody
Have a family thing sorryDiana
That's fine, is everything okay? I didn't see you much today, even at lunch.Melody
I'm busy but I'll text you later xI go to type but stop, I'm probably annoying her or maybe inviting her to Charlie's was too much? Maybe she thinks I just want her to touch me again—I don't, I mean, I do but I also just like being around her. That's more important to me.
I put my phone away again before I bend down to the box beside me, picking up a book before straightening up. I go to put it on the shelf but Miss Snow speaks as she walks closer.
"Diana, that shelf." Miss Snow points to the shelf above my head and I nod.
I look above me before I go to put the book on the shelf that she pointed at, the book does not want to go in so I try pull another book out. I look back at her, turning towards her slightly..
"Wait, what do—"
"Watch it!" She shouts and before I can even think, I get shoved back into the shelf just as a bigger book falls, right where I was before I was pushed. Miss snow catches it, one of her arms on mine as she pulls back slightly looking at me.
"Are you alright?" She asks, searching my eyes and I feel her breath on my face from how close she is as she speaks, she can probably feel mine too. My heart begins pounding because of the shock. I freeze for a second, just staring at her, I notice the little bit of brown in her eyes again, and the light freckles around her nose which is also perfect, she has a small button nose, protected by her light freckles along her cheeks. I think I notice every little detail on her face before I snap out of it.
"I...am fine." I say.
"What nearly killed me?" I ask, turning my head, clearing my throat as my voice sounds awfully croaky...She rolls her eyes with a small smile before turning the book.
"A...dictionary." She furrows her eyebrows and I laugh. She drops it onto the floor and it makes a big bang causing me to flinch but she laughs before looking back at me. She looks at me different, but not a big difference, just like she knows something, if that makes sense.
"Next time, pay attention and don't just start staring at me." She leans back, stepping away from me, closer to the other shelf but I stay against the one that I was practically slammed into.
"I will."
"Good girl." She hums and I bend down, picking up the dictionary, I glance to her as I do and her eyes travel down with me, I break the awkward eye contact as she does too.
I straighten up, my heart suddenly racing again, out of my control...Miss Snow hums again, turning away from me, walking back down the aisle of books.

"Diana, where would you be without me?" Charlie laughs, walking over to my closet while flicking through it and throwing things onto the floor. I didn't pick clothes yesterday so Charlie and I came back to my house, the day of the party, so I could find something.
"Well, I probably wouldn't be going to a party that's for sure." I respond and he turns, holding up a dress, a short green dress which was bought for me by Jane.
"Ha! No." I stand up and he groans, dropping his shoulders.
"Come on, Diana, it's only a dress."
"Yeah, it's only a dress, I don't wear dresses often." I shake my head.
"Come on, you'll look amazing. Especially for Melody." Charlie winks and I continue to shake my head at him.
"I don't care what Melody thinks, I'm not wearing the dress." I take it out of his hand and shove it back into my closet before taking out a pair of jeans and a red wool jumper.
"That's so boring." Charlie complains.
"I don't care." I reply before my bedroom door creaks opens.
"Aww, my little baby off to her first party." Jane smiles and I roll my eyes.
"God, don't remind me."
"Are you not excited?" She asks and I shrug.
"Oh yeah, sweaty, drunk, jumpy people squashed together with loud, trash music playing. How exciting." I smile and Jane rolls her eyes as Charlie jumps onto my bed.
"What's the plan after?"
"I'm staying at Charlie's, so, you have the house to yourself. Enjoy it." I laugh and she smiles.
"Alright, enjoy yourselves too." She waves her hand over her head while walking out and closing the door behind her.
