-Natalie's POV-
I check the time on my watch, it's late, but not late enough for my Mom to be asleep. I knock on the front door of my Parent's house before tapping my foot impatiently as I wait.
This last week has been something...Tatum now knows that i slipped up and slept with Olivia, she has probably blabbed off to everyone about it already. I have a few missed calls from people, that could explain it. She told me that she doesn't blame me, I wanted to punch her.
During my week off, I forced myself to sit down and focus on my side hobby...which made me even more frustrated because this brain of mine didn't seem to want to cooperate with me.
I see a shadow through the blurry window on the door before the door unlocks, creaking as my Mom pulls it open, greeting me with her warm smile.
"Natalia." My Mom speaks, I smile slightly and she opens her arms wide. I step inside, hugging her. My Mom is the only person who calls me Natalia...She's also the only person that I will hug.
"Hello, Mom." I kiss her cheek. My Mom is spanish, she moved here after she met my Dad in New York. They say it was love at first sight. I know bits of Spanish from my Mom and from speaking with my grandmother. Although, I don't use it often, it's just useful to know. I know bits of French too from high school or at least I say I do, I don't remember it.
"Come in, it is cold out there." She tells me, pulling me further inside. She closes the door and takes off my jacket for me, my Moms has alway had too much manners. I'm definitely not anything like her, well not my personality anyway. My Mom, looks wise, is shorter, dark brown hair which she dyes to keep the grey away, brown eyes and a beautiful tan. My Mom is mostly healthy, she loves walking and even goes to the gym. Well before this year, she has no energy now and most of the time, her body is in excruciating pain as she says. She has upcoming scans to figure out what is wrong. She's been in the hospital a couple of times because of how sick she got, they said nothing is wrong.
"How are you?" I ask her as I follow her to the kitchen, moving some of my hair back behind my ear.
"I'm good, how are you? How's work?" She asks, taking a seat at the table and I join her, sitting beside her.
"It's good, I enjoy it most days. I get along with most of the teachers, the Principal isn't too strict either." I cross one leg over the other, sitting back.
"Isabelle? Who are you talking to?" I hear my Dad ask my Mom as he stomps down the stairs, like he usual does. I glance back over my shoulder as he comes into view.
"Hello." I say, resting my hands on my lap. He shakes his head as I look him up and down, I look away again, humming.
"Right, well, I think my visit is over. I don't want to be somewhere I'm not wanted." I speak, patting my thighs before I stand, he's the reason why I don't call here often, when I do, it's not for long. We don't get along at all.
"Why don't you stay for a cup of tea?" My Mom stands and I shake my head. I'd prefer a coffee but it's too late for one now, I'll be up all night and I will be frustrated all day tomorrow.
"No, I'm alright, thank you for the offer." I speak, walking out to the hall before I take my jacket off of the coat rack that's attached to the wall.
"Natalia, are you coming to thanksgiving dinner? I know I forgot the stuffing last year but I bought double this year, just for you." She smiles and I smile back at her, my Mom is too good for this world. She's also too good for that man.
"You're too good to me, but I'm still thinking about it. I'll call again next week or so. Take care of yourself." I tell her and she nods as I put on my jacket.
