-Diana's POV-
I wait outside because Charlie offered me a lift. My car is fine but he doesn't think I am. I fiddle with my rings, I drop my hands taking a deep breath.
How is it Monday already? I mean, this past weekend was awful so I wanted it to be over but now I'm faced with probably an even worse day.
Natalie took care of me yesterday when I woke up, I remember going to sleep beside her but I woke up without her. I couldn't really move, my body was sore but Natalie came in a couple of minutes after I woke up, she went out and got me breakfast.
She brought me home too, she told me to call her if I needed anything which was sweet of her. I do remember us talking at some stage during the night, I remember her saying that she cares, I also remember the look in her eyes.
We did go over our plan for today before she dropped me home, I called Charlie immediately when I got home...I had a lot of missed calls from him and Jane, he called Jane because he was worried so they both went a little off on me.
Charlie's car pulls up, I hear the music from the radio playing way too loud before I even open the car door.
I open the car door, sitting in before I pull my seatbelt across my chest.
"Should have applied for Yale earlier." He jokes as I turn down the volume of the music. I let out a shaky breath which is also half a laugh.
"I really should have." I sit back, resting my head against the headrest.
"You're gonna be fine."
"No, I won't be."
"Well, you did get the woman to pick you up from the party."
"Charlie."
"Sorry, I'm trying to cheer you up." He taps the wheel and I roll my eyes.
"I'm fine and that's also not how you cheer somebody up."
I look out the window, hoping he won't say anymore, I just need to think. My hands are sweating, the car is really hot. I put down the window. What if she does fired—and I get expelled...If she takes the blame then I'll probably never be able to see her again.
Charlie drives into the school parking lot a few minutes later. He parks but I don't unbuckle my seatbelt.
"You okay?" He reaches over, rubbing my shoulder and I take a deep breath before nodding quickly.
"Yeah—fine, I just need a second."
"Diana—"
"Let's just go before I get sick." I open the door, quickly going to get out, I fall back against the seat, the belt stopping me. I huff, unbuckling myself before getting out and shutting the car door. I look to Charlie and he walks around the car, putting his arm around my shoulder.
"If they do know...you'll be known as the nerdy girl who bagged the mean, sexy English teacher." He laughs and I don't laugh, I'm practically shaking out of fear. I don't know what's going to happen. We walk inside the school building. I move Charlie's hand, going to my locker and opening it.
"Relax, Diana." Charlie follows and I take slow deep breaths, trying to get it together. I can't. I can barely breathe.
"Charlie, I can't." I tell him, grabbing my books that I need. I close my locker. I look around and two girls stare at me, whispering to each other.
"What?" I ask them, they look at each, smiling before they start laughing. I look to Charlie and he shrugs.
"Ignore them. I don't even know them, that says a lot." He says loudly and I bite the inside of my cheek really hard. I need to stop doing that. I don't see Melody or any of her friends so that's a good sign...or a very bad one. Charlie links his arm through mine and we walk towards our first class, Math. It's early but it's better than late, we walk into the classroom and Mr Donovan stares at me. School has barely even started, how would he know?
