-Diana's POV-

I take off my headphones, letting them rest around my neck as I open the door to my favourite bookstore, 'Lyla's books'. I step inside immediately feeling the warmth since it is cold outside due to the weather change. It's autumn now which also means it's spooky season. I love Halloween, I prefer it over Christmas and I always have. I still love Christmas though.

At Halloween time, you don't pretend like everything's all rainbows and butterflies but on Christmas, everyone acts like everything and everyone is perfect. It's quite sad actually and I just made it sound even worse.

"Back again?" I hear Lyla, the owner and definitely the nicest person in town, say from behind the counter and I smile as I turn to her, fixing my shoulder length, blonde hair to rest behind my ear.

"I finished the books that I bought last week." I put my hands into the pocket of my baggy jeans as I shrug, a little embarrassed.

"You read too much, I'm saying that as the biggest bookworm there is. You're a teenager, go party." She laughs and I do too.

"I'd rather not. Books are more interesting than people and alcohol."

"You do you. Oh, before I forget, we got in that book that you were looking for too. Down the third aisle, it's selling out fast." She speaks and I smile, quickly fixing my bag on my shoulder before walking to the third aisle to find the book.

I've been looking for the book 'lasting forever' for more than two months, it's sold out everywhere that I have looked. I was going to get it online but Lyla said she would get it in for me and everywhere I have looked online anyway is a little expensive. Lyla gives me books for a much cheaper price.

I spot it on the shelf, the last one. I smile to myself and quickly walk over and as I go to reach for it, someone snatches it.

I quickly look up and a woman with long, dark brunette hair looks at the book in her hand. My first thought is, is her hair soft? It looks soft—very healthy also which is leaving me jealous almost.

"Sorry...That's mine." I say while motioning towards the book, she meets my eye before raising her eyebrow, just slightly. Her eyes catch my attention now as I attempt to look at the book again, they're hazel, mostly green but a little brown is in there too. I love green eyes, I think they're the most beautiful eye colour. I have blue eyes, they're more on the lighter side but I would much prefer to have green or even brown eyes.

"Really? It doesn't seem to have a name on it, also if it's yours, why is it on the shelf for anyone to buy?" She questions, her voice soft and calm, kind of relaxing to hear but at this moment, I am anything but relaxed.

"Well, I was going to buy it. I've been looking everywhere for it."

"Interesting...because I have been looking for it too. If it's not yours then I think I will buy it for myself." She flicks through the book, looking to me again and I frown.

"Please, I'll pay you for it, more than it's worth. I've been dying to read this book and it's out of stock everywhere, the minute it's back in stock and I go to buy it, it's always gone again." I plead and she shrugs, her reaction clearly conveying that she does not care about my desperation.

Show me some pity, I beg of you.

"That's not my problem, Darling." She winks before smiling as she walks past me with my book in her hand. I groan and rub my hands over my face as I follow her, deciding to ignore what she calls me although my heart begins to race. Out of anger, obviously, I'm angry. I wanted the book.
