We were going grocery shopping, I had bad anxiety tics today. I threw my head back and whistled causing everyone in the same isle to turn their heads and stare at us, in the dairy isle, I had a mini tic rant about going home and eating "I can't wait to see kitty again when we get home, I wanna eat as soon as we leave, I'm hungry, hey, Leo, when are we leaving?" I ask, "We leave when we leave, I don't know when." he told me, I held his hand and squeezed it whenever I had a tic, "(whistle, click x2) I wanna go home" I pouted, "Everyone's staring at me.." "You'll be ok, Mikey, we'll probably be leaving soon" Raph said. "Ok..." I say in a rush, my tics and stims get worse every time someone stares at me, I hate being treated like I'm not mentally normal, like my brain is different. My ADHD kicked in while in the frozen foods isle, I ran around in a small circle near the team and was having a tic attack "Chicken nuggets? No, no, he's got barbeque sauce, you don't eat nuggets with BBQ sauce!" I say, people staring, thus again making it worse, "(click, neck jerk) Leo? Can we go home now? Please, everyone's making the tics worse.." I pout again, "I assure you we'll leave soon, lil bro." Raph and don say together, I fiddle with my ID in the checkout while looking at candy near, "Leo, I'm bored. Mario Cart? How do you- Holy shit, he's going zoom! That's a fast little man!" I rant and stim, I grab a monster drink and walk up to Leo, "Can I get it? I'll pay with my own money (whistle)" I ask, "As long as you don't chug it, yes, you can get it." he says. "Yay! Thanks, bro!" I say and hug him.
At home, I finally don't feel as pressured to act normal anymore, these are my family, they won't judge me. I keep hearing the words people whispered at the grocery store, "Is that kid retarded? It's Tourette's? That still makes him retarded, Jenni" "Mom, why's he keep making noise, its pissing David off." "OMG, he's got Tourette's, he might get me some views on TikTok, Tourette's are what famous people have now-a-days. Mom, I record who I want" I just wish that they would see I'm normal too, that nothing is wrong with me, I just have a different mindset than them, doesn't make me all the more different than I already am anyways..
