Chapter Twenty-Nine

Jaypee groaned and slowly opened his eyes, his hearing was filled by the static noise of the machine not far from him.

His forehead furrowed when he saw a familiar ceiling.

"Oh, you're awake." Lyka greeted and she closed the door. "How are you?" she asked.

"W-where is Hestia?" Jaypee asked hoarsely.

Lyka's forehead furrowed in confusion. "Who?"

And that made the patient stop. "Hestia. Where is she?" he asked.

"Woah, did your head hit on something that hard and you started to spew out a random name?" Lyka asked. "Hestia? is that the name of the girl in your dreams while you are unconscious?" she added.

"What do you mean you don't know her? you just met her!" Jaypee insisted.

"I didn't meet anyone." Lyka said then laughed. "I think we need to perform a CT Scan on you." she said.

Jaypee angrily stared at the doctor while she did some things on his IV.

"Stop messing with me woman." Jaypee threatened when he realized that Lyka is making fun of him.

"I am not." Lyka said and looked back at him again. "What was the last thing you remember?" she challenged.

"There's Yolanda...then we are in cemetery and---"

"I see, maybe that's the effect of the drug...it makes your brain think that you are in that place even though you are not." Lyka hummed as she wrote something on the notepad.

"What do you mean!?"

"You got here because you got shot while on a mission with Gemma." Lyka explained.

"What?! my last mission was Hestia's!"

"Hestia is not a real person Jaypee, stop it." She answered with concern in her voice. "You're making me worry." she mumbled.

Akmang may sasabihin sana ang binata nang biglang mag-ring ang phone ni Lyka, she sighed and answered it.

"Dr. Vicente...what?...no...ugh! fine!" Lyka said and pressed something on the screen of her phone. "You're on loudspeaker." she informed.

"Jaypee, whatever that woman is saying is not true."

"I FUCKING KNEW IT!"

Lyka looked back and stared at him before she laughed, making him roll his eyes.

"Your reaction! it was priceless!" Lyka said in between her laughs. "Oh my goodness, that was so funny, I'm getting the tape later." she said and opened her clipboard.

"I want a new doctor." Jaypee demanded.

"Hey, I'm the best doctor here." Lyka said. "And also Gemma, you're no fun." she said to the woman on the other line.

"I have a gut feel na kung ano-ano na naman ang pinagsasabi mo sa pasyente mo." Gemma said.

"Lamang ka lang saken dahil may lisensya ka." singit naman ng binata.

"That's why you better get a license once you get out there." Gemma answered. "I gotta go, Lyka, stop messing with your patients, or else I will forcibly remove you from there." she bid before cutting the call.

"Sure." Lyka simply answered and turned off her phone. "Always spoiling my pranks." she grumbled.

"You're not good at it." Jaypee commented.
