~Riley's P.O.V.~
I pressed down on the gas pedal and rushed back down the road to Mae. I pulled the truck into the yard and saw walkers going towards the door. I jumped out and quickly shot them and quickly made my way towards the door. I saw her laying on the ground her arms at her sides "Mae!?" I felt her chest for a heartbeat and couldn't find one and placed two fingers on the side of her neck and found a pulse.. she's alive. I hurried to take my shirt off and pressed it against the opening of the wound. I lifted her in my one arm still holding the shirt against her and got into the truck with her on my lap. I planned on driving to the hospital and would hope to find anything that would help. It took almost 20 minutes to get there and approaching the hospital I could see the doors were boarded. I left her in the front seat as I got out to attempt removing the wood. I got my hands on one board and tried pulling when I heard a faint voice from inside. "Don't do that!" I peeked through the gap between the wood and saw an older woman rushing away. "Please come back! We need help!" There was no response. "Over here!" I saw the woman on the other side of the building waving me down. I quickly rushed to grab Mae from the truck and ran to her. She stood next to two metal double doors, and stopped me before entering. "Was she bitten?" "No, she was stabbed. She's lost a lot of blood." She ran inside the building and came back with a rolling bed to lay her on. I gently layed her on it and held the shirt against her as the woman rolled her through the hallway. I still didn't have a shirt on and could feel the cold air against my skin. There's air conditioning? Then I didn't even notice lights were on around me. They have electricity?! The hospital wasn't even that far from home and I never noticed that it has always been lit up? Two men came out of a room. "What's going on Sally, do you need help?" The younger one asked. "John, you bring this man out there. Alex, come help." The older man tried to move my hand from Mae. "I'm not leaving her!" I pushed his hand away from me. "Sir, go with John he'll show you to the others. Alex is a doctor and we will make sure we can do everything possible for her, trust us." I backed away and Alex put his hand where mine was, holding the shirt against her. I watched as they left rushing her down the long hallway. "Come on, let me show you around." We walked into the lobby of the hospital and two young kids ran by. There was people with sleeping bags and some with blow up beds. I was speechless "All this time this has been here while me and Mae have been out there fighting for our lives we've both have come close to death and look at her now." "I'm sorry, uh.." "Riley." "I'm sorry Riley, I know things are pretty bad out there. But I know Sally and Alex are going to do everything they can for her. We are good people here unlike the survivors still out there in the streets. We are always accepting people here, so when your wife is healed you can choose to stay or go." "She's my girlfriend." "Oh okay, well come on let me finish showing you around, there's more to see."
