~Riley's P.O.V.~
I ended up falling asleep hugging the pillow, pretending it was Mae. I got up the next day and informed John that I was going to be headed out, "Do you possibly have some sort of livestock trailer I could borrow?" "Its old and rusty on the outside of the fence, what do you need it for?" "Horses, is there a place I could keep two?" "Yes, do you need any help?" John asked. "You can come if you'd like. I just wanted to pick up a few things and the horses." We both headed out and got in my truck, he pointed in the direction of the trailer. After we got it hooked up we headed back home. I could see Ace running in circles around the house, he looked spooked. Pulling in I could see a group of walkers in one spot, I had forgot to close the gate. It was the last thing on my mind when we were leaving. They were feeding on the other horse. I stopped the truck and slid the upper half of my body out the back window keeping my elbows and gun steadied on the top of the truck. I shot them and Ace ran around faster, panicked. When all the walkers were dead he began to slow down and walked towards the other horse he gently stepped passed the bodies to his fallen brother. He put his head down and let out a low cry, it was heart breaking. We both got out of the truck and walked towards Ace with our hands out he didn't budge much. John grabbed the lead rope from the porch and came back to me with it. We put it around his neck and pulled him away leading him to the trailer. We got him in and he held his head low as we finished going through the house getting what we needed. We left with my bed, the rest of the guns, clothes, and Mae's belongings and started the truck to head back to the hospital. I looked in the rear view mirror as we drove away. This would probably be my last time here, the hospital is going to be more safe for me and Mae. Just never imagined it would hurt like this leaving home, the home I lived in since I was little but I'm doing what's best by leaving. Hopefully in the future we will be able to live normally and peacefully in a place we can call our own.
