Part Thirty-Eight

~Riley's P.O.V.~

We made it back to the hospital and John helped me move the doctors equipment out of our new room. We moved the supplies into another room and the unneeded things outside. He helped me move in my bed and stood by the door as I sat down, "Thanks, John." "I'll bring the horse out back I'm sure the kids here will love him. You got the rest?" "Yeah." He turned and walked away I finished bringing in the rest of the things, putting the guns into the top cabinet and clothes into the drawers. I made the bed and layed down and stared at the ceiling when I heard a light tapping on the door and it slowly opened. "Riley?" It was Sally, I jumped up. "Yes?" "She just woke up, she wants to see you." I quickly got to my feet, "please take me to her." We walked down the hallway into her room. Alex was sitting next to her bed and looked up as we entered. He got up and walked out with Sally." Mae turned her head slowly to look up at me, a smile spread across her face. I tried to fight back the tears I was holding in I was happy beyond belief. I went to her side and grabbed her hand, kissing it. Her brown eyes shined as she slid her hand to my cheek then on the back of my neck, pulling me closer to her. I gently kissed her lips then looked back at her, "I've missed you." Her eyes watered a little when she saw a tear escape from mine. I set my head on her shoulder and took a deep breath. "I'm here now." She whispered.
