Chapter 12

Jude's POV

As soon as we walk into school, everyone stares at us. All of the girls start awing. The boys don't really react. Boys don't show much emotion.

We keep walking down the hall when Jeremy comes up to us and pushes me into a locker.

"I always knew you were a fag," he says. "Ever since the day you came to school with the blue nail polish."

"Get off of him," says Connor, trying to pull Jeremy off of me.

"Oh yeah," he says. "Whatcha gonna do about it."

"This," says Connor. Then, he punches Jeremy in the face.

"Boys," says Lena. "My office. Now!"

Connor, Jeremy, and I walk to Lena's office. We walk in and sit down.

"What happened," asks Lena.

"Nothing," says Jeremy.

"Nothing," says Lena. "Then explain why you have a black eye."

"I wasn't paying attention and I got hit in the face with a football," says Jeremy. Wow, he's good at making up stories.

"Boys," she says, looking at us. "Is this the truth?"

"Yes," says Connor. "And when he stumbled back after getting hit in the face he accidentally ran into us." How is everyone so good at lying? I could never make up a story that fast.

"Ok," says Lena. "Your dismisses. Go to class. We don't want you to be late." We get up and walk out.

"Thanks for covering for me," says Jeremy, as soon as we close the door to Lena's office. "I can't go to detention. my parents are very strict. They'd be pissed."

"No problem," says Connor. "As long as you don't hurt either of us ever again."

"Sorry about that," says Jeremy. "I guess I'm just jealous."

"Jealous of what," I ask.

"You guys," says Jeremy. "You guys are so open about who you are. You're not ashamed of who you are."

"Wait you're..." I start but get cut off my Jeremy.

"Shh," he whispers. "Yes, I'm gay. Just don't tell anyone. Like I said, my parents are very strict."

"Don't worry," I say. "We won't tell."

"Come on," says Connor. "We don't want to be late for class."
