Chapter 6

Jude's POV

I wake up on Monday. I look at my phone and see I have a text from Connor.

Meet me at the bench in 30 minutes, it says.

Ok, see you then, I text back.

I get up and start getting ready for school. I rush to the bathroom so I don't have to wait for everyone else to get their turn. hen I head downstairs for breakfast.

"Good morning love," says Stef.

"Good morning," I say as I pour almost the whole bottle of syrup on my pancakes.

"Slow down there," says Stef. "We want to make sure there is some syrup left for the others."

"Speaking of everyone else, do you think you can ask them to hurry up. I have to meet Connor at school in 10 minutes."

"Sure. Everyone get down here! We leave in 5 minutes!"

We didn't end up leaving for another 20 minutes, making me 10 minutes later. I walk up to the bench and see Connor waiting for me.

"What took you so long," he asked.

"Mariana," I replied.

"Of course," Connor says laughing. "So I realized that, from Daria's perspective, I'm still in a relationship. What am I supposed to do?"

"Break up with her," I say. "You don't need to make your dad think you're straight anymore. He knows you're gay."

"True," says Connor. "I'll break up with her during lunch. Another thing I want to know is are we going to come out at school, or do we want to keep it a secret."

"I think we should come out when we're ready. But we definitely have to tell Taylor."

"Ok," says Connor. Then he picks up his crutches and stands up. "Can you carry my stuff for me. It's kind of hard to carry them with crutches."

"Sure," I say, picking up his stuff. "How long do you have to use those."

"The doctor says I only need them for a week. He says that since my leg is healing fast, I won't need the crutches as long as most people would."

"What does he not as long as most people. Does he have a lot of patients who have been shot in the foot?"

"Haha, very funny," says Connor. "Come one we don't want to be late for class."
