Chapter 52

Jude's POV

"Hey," says Jeremy at the end of the day. "I know Taylor kind crashed your plans yesterday, but would you mind if I crashed today? I have something kind of important to talk to you guys about."

"Sure," I say. "Not like we'd be alone anyways."

We walk to my house and then go up to my room when we get there.

"So what's going on," says Connor.

"Ok," says Jeremy. "So I... Um... I asked Evan if he wanted to Br my boyfriend while he was at my house yesterday. I told him we couldn't tell my parents,and asked if we could keep it a secret and he said that was ok. And then he kissed me, and right when he kissed me, my mom walked in. She started yelling how it was a sin to be kissing a boy and nonsense like that. And then they kicked me out. I slept on a bench in front of the school last night."

"Woah," says Connor. "That's harsh. But that explains why you're wearing the same thing you were wearing yesterday."

"So I'm guessing you're parents aren't going to let you come home," I say.

"There's no way they'd let me come home," says Jeremy. "Not like I'd want to go back there."

"Well, if no one from your family is willing to take you in, you could always go into foster care," I say.

"I don't think anyone would take me. My whole family's pretty homophobic."

"Well we can talk to Stef and Lena. I'm sure they could help find an accepting home for you."

"Ok."

We walk downstairs and find Stef and Lena. Jeremy tel,stem everything he tells us.

"If no on will take you in you'll probably go into foster care," says Stef. "We'll talk with Bill, the guy who helped us find Callie, and find place for you to stay. Until then, you can stay with us."

"Really," says Jeremy. "Thank you. That means a lot."

"Who's going to tell everyone," I ask. "Even though we all miss him, everyone's a bit happy Jesus is at boarding school. There's a shorter line for the bathroom. I think Mariana would be upset to hear she has another person she has to share the bathroom with."

"We'll tell them during dinner," says Lena. "And they'll just have to deal with it."

After our conversation, Connor, Jeremy and I go upstairs. We play video game until Connor leaves.

Once Connor leaves, Jeremy and I help set up for dinner. We set places for everyone, and sit down and wait when we're done.

Everyone starts to come downstairs for dinner, and they take their seats. Everyone immediately reaches for their food, not even realizing Jeremy was here.

"Everyone listen up," says Stef. "As you obviously didn't notice, we have a guest here."

"Aren't you the kid who bullied Jude," asks Brandon.

"Yeah," says Jeremy. "Again, sorry about that."

"It's ok," I say.

"Why is he here," says Callie.

"Well the reason he bullied Jude was because Jude was able to accept who he was and Jeremy wasn't," says Stef.

"Oh," says Mariana. "You're gay too."

"Wow Mariana," I say. "Very straightforward."

"Yeah, I am," says Jeremy. "And my parents are very religious and homophobic. Last night they found out I was gay, and they kicked me out."

"That's gotta suck," says Brandon.

"Watch your language," says Stef.

"Suck isn't a bad word," says Brandon.

"Anyways," says Lena. "No one in his family is willing to take him in, so we're going to try to get him into foster care. And until we find somewhere for him to go, he's going to stay with us."

"Where will he sleep," asks Callie.

"Jude's room," says Stef. "He'll sleep in Jesus's bed."

"Great," says Mariana. "Another person I have to share the bathroom with."

"Don't worry," says Jeremy. "I take quick showers."

We finish up dinner and then cleanup the table. After that, Jeremy and I go upstairs and get ready for bed.

"What's the foster system like," says Jeremy, as he gets into bed.

"I'm not going to lie, it can be scary," I say. "But if you find the right home, you should be fine."

"I never thought I would end up in foster care. I thought I would grow up and be a normal kids in a normal family."

"You never think it's going to be you. And normal is overrated."

"Yeah. Well, good night."

"Good night."
