Chapter 32

Connor's POV

After dinner the next morning, I tell Bruce and Neil what happened last night.

Flashback

I walk out of the gym with the rest of my cabin. I'm really tired and I'm falling behind everyone else. Then, I feel something hit me on the back of the head. Everything goes black.

I wake up and realize I'm at the shooting range. I'm tied to a chair in front of a target. I see James and he tells me about his plan to get Jude to come and "see me for the last time."

End Of Flashback

"And that's when Jude came and saved me," I say.

"Thank you for telling us," says Neil. "We will take care of James. Now you better go get ready. You start your activities today. The list is on the door." I walk to the door and look at the list.

"Yes," I say. "I got my first choices!"

"Same," says Jude. "That means we get to be together all day!"

"Awesome. We better go. We have 5 minutes to get to archery." We put on our shoes and head out. We get to the archery range.

"Hi," I hear Myranda yell.

"Hey Myranda," says Jude.

"Hi," I say. "You excited for archery?"

"Yep," says Myranda. "You see that girl over." She points to a tall girl with short brown hair. "If there wasn't a rule about always pointing the loaded bows towards the targets, I would point it at her. She's super annoying."

"Good thing this isn't swimming," says Jude. "Otherwise she would be getting attacked by kick boards right now."

"Sit down," says the instructor. We sit down and he starts telling us the rules. He then teaches us how to shoot the arrows and we start taking turns shooting.

After archery, Jude and I walk to the cabin and change into our bathing suits.

"Hey guys," says Kyle.

"Hi," I say. "What are you doing here?"

"Changing. I'm going sailing."

"So are we," says Jude. "Looks like we have one of our specialties together."

"Yeah." We finish getting changed and walk to the lake. We get there and the instructors explain what to do.

"Wanna sail on the same boat," asks Kyle.

"Sure," I say. Jude, Kyle, and I walk to the dock and get on a boat. We get on the boat and raise the sail.

"I get to steer first," says Kyle.

"Fine," I say. "But we're switching halfway." Kyle steers the boat and we head out into the lake.

"We should start getting back," says Jude after we'd been out for a while.

"I get to steer back," I say. I switch places with Kyle and sail back to the dock.

"It's a good thing our next specialty isn't that far away," says Jude. "I'm really cold. Jude and I walk to the other side of the lake.

"Hi," says the instructor. "I'm Ben and this is Charlie and Zoe. Today we are going to give you the choice of doing either water skiing, wakeboarding, or kneeboarding."

"Hey," says Ella, walking up from behind us.

"Hey," I say. "I don't know what to do."

"You should do knee boarding with me. It's really fun."

"Ok." Jude, Ella, and I walk to Charlie's boat, the boat with the kneeboard.

"Keep a tight grip on the handle," says Ella. "I have kneeboarded one handed to many times not to hold on tight."

"I don't know how to kneeboard," says Jude.

"It's not that hard," Ella says. "I'll go first and you can watch." The boat starts to move and we head out onto the lake.

"Who's going first," asks Charlie.

"I'll go," says Ella. She gets off the boat and lies on the board. We start to move, and she gets farther away from the boat. The boat starts to go faster and she gets up on her knees and grabs the handle. She holds on tight and stays up the whole time.

When she's done, she swims back to the boat, and I decide to go next. I did pretty good. I had some trouble getting up, but once I was up it was really easy to stay up. Jude didn't do so well. He fell off as soon as he got up.

Once everyone has gone, we get back to the dock. Jude and I get off the boat and head back to our cabin to change.

"Have fun," asks Bruce when we get back to the cabin.

"Yeah," Jude says. "But I didn't do very good kneeboarding."

"You'll do better next time," I say. We change into our clothes and get ready for dinner. We wait for everyone else to get back to the cabin.

Once everyone gets to the cabin, we walk to the dining hall. The hoppers bring the food, and everyone starts talking about their first day of activities.

After dinner we walk back to the cabins, and sit on our beds like we always do until Bruce and Neil tell us what we're doing for evening activities.

"Put on your sweatshirts," says Neil. "We're having a campfire!"
