" The Struggle Is
Just Part Of The Story."CHAPTER THIRTEEN.
Three days later.
11:48a.m.I walk through the heavy glass door and place two to-go coffees in front of me on the counter. I ring the silver bell next to the cash register and Bryson pops up from behind the desk. "Doll Face!"
"Bry-Bry!" I exclaim back. I smile and slide the coffee in front of him. "Thought you might like this."
He smiles. "Thank you. You didn't need to get me coffee."
"Sh, Don't worry about it. You bought me a record so I'm paying you back."
He chuckles and grabs my hand. "You've already bought me a billion coffees."
"And I'll buy you a billion more."
He leans forward and attaches his lips to mine.
"Oh yeah!! My boy Bryson is gettin some!"
We pull away and look over at his co-worker Jimmy. "Come on man." Bryson blushes.
"How were you able to get her... when you look like...that?" He snickers and points at him.
Bryson glances at me with a small smile, and his cheeks rosey. "Honestly.. I have no idea."
I giggle and he holds my hand from across the counter.
"Right on!" Jimmy exclaims and walks into the back.
A man with deep indigo black hair walks down the stairs behind the counter and steps next to Bryson. His hickory eyes as rich as the earth's soil; stained with the color of dark chocolate pierced into mine. His mouth raises into a wide smile. He pats Bryson's back. "Yo Bj, is this your hot girlfriend you keep raving about?"
His eyes widen, his tan skin turns red. " Uhh...Yeah. This is Paisley. Paisley this is Karl."
I smile as Bryson and I let go, I shake Karl's hand, "Hi, Bryson has told me a lot about you."
"I could say the same. He's talked about you every day since he met you. If I'm not mistaken, you're the girl the jumped off Old Rusty to save Hunter?"
I nod."Correct."
"Any news on how he's doing?" Karl asks.
"Not yet. I was actually going to head over there, I just popped in to see Bryson."
"Ah gotcha. Well, it's great to meet you."
I smile. "It's great meeting you too." He whispers something in Bryson's ear before heading towards the back. His eyes widen more. "What did he say?"
He clears his throat and scratches his chin. "N-nothing."
I grin and poke his arm. "Come on, tell me."
" Uh... I don't know if I can."
"Pretty please with a cherry on top?" I beg.
"I shouldn't."
I raise an eyebrow and continue to poke his warm skin. "Why? Is it a secret? Because I'm excellent at secret keeping."
