CHAPTER THREE.
1 hour later.

Teddy smirks and shoves the last couple of fries into his mouth. "Hey Josie!"

Josie smiles and places three coffees in green pastel to-go cups down on the table. "Hey Hunter! How's Kasey doing?"

Teddy smiles widely and scratches his cheek. "She's doing better, thanks for asking Josie. How's the old man?"

She giggles and brushes her stray grey hairs behind her ear. "Still working his ass off."

Teddy leans towards her and grabs her hand. "You need to tell him not to work too hard like he did last time."

She laughs and wipes her tears out of her eyes. "I always do. You kids have fun."

"What happened to her husband?" I question.

Bryson and Teddy snicker. "He tore a butt muscle." They say simultaneously.

I chuckle. "Ouch.. so who's Kasey?"

"She's my sister. She recently broke her leg during soccer practice." Teddy informs me.

"Oh no, I hope she feels better."

"Thanks, I'll let her know you said that." He takes a long sip of his coffee and places it back down on the table as a little bit of coffee sloshes out of the hole, landing on his hand. "Dammit." He murmurs.

I toss him an unused napkin. "Here ya go."

He smiles, "Thanks! So Paisley, what town are you from in Arizona?"

"Tucson."

"Oh nice, have you lived there all your life?" He questions and places the napkin back on the table in front of him.

I nod and pour creamer into my cup. "Yup, I have. Born and raised."

"That's cool. Have you seen the Grand Canyon? I've always wanted to see it."

"Yeah, it's gorgeous! My dad and I used to go there all the time when I was little. I haven't seen it since he left though."

Teddy raises an eyebrow, "Your dad left you and your family?"

"Yeah, he did."

"Was he cheating?" Teddy asks.

Bryson punches his arm.

"What? I was just asking a question." He defends.

I chuckle softly. "Guys it's okay. Really, ask me anything." I brush my hair out of my eyes and behind my ear. "My Mom had cancer." I inform Teddy. " I think he left because it all became too much for him. He couldn't pay for all the medical bills so he decided to run away from his problems."

Teddy clears his throat and scratches his chin. "That all sucks, I'm really sorry to hear that."

"It's alright, it's life."
