" And you were just like the moon,
so full of imperfections.
But just like the moon,
you shined in times of darkness."

CHAPTER TWENTY~TWO.

"Paisley."

I turn to my grandpa and see he's struggling to get up out of his chair, I rush to his side and help him up. "Yeah Gramps?"

"Come with me." I wrap my arm around his and walk with him, we walk down the hallway towards the basement door.

"What is it Grandpa?"

He leans towards me and whisper. "Do you know where Jeremy is?"

I shake my head and gulp silently. "No...."

"Paisley, you can tell me. I won't tell another soul, he would have at least contacted you. Do you know where he is, Peanut?" He asks, his eyes begging for an answer.

I nod and look at my feet. "...Yes... I do."

"Is he in a safe place?"

"Yes he is."

"Very good. This will be our little secret."

We walk back into the living room, I help my grandpa sit back down before strolling into the kitchen. I look over at Kolby hissing in pain and unraveling a bandage around his hand. I step next to him, "What happened?"

He glances around the room, "Tessa.... stabbed me with a fork."

I gasp and grab his hand. "My God, thats insane!" I completely unwrap it and see a bunch of little bloody holes all around his hand, turning black. "This looks infected. Follow me." He nods. We walk up the stairs and into the bathroom. I shut the door and lock it. I pull his hand over the sink and grab the rubbing alcohol from underneath the sink. "This is probably going to sting."

As I pore it over his hand he bites his lip. "Do you know where Jeremy is?"

I shake my head. "No, I don't."

"Paisley, you can trust me. I promise." He gives me the tiniest smile.

I grab some gauze and wrap his hand up. "Okay....I do. But you can't tell another soul, you got it?"

He crosses his heart with his hand. "Cross my heart and hope to die. I swear Pais, I won't."

I rub my forehead and lean against the door. "I'm so sorry she did this to you. She's going even more psycho, I didn't think it was possible. How can people be so evil?"

"I don't know, there's so little kindness in our world."

"We may only have little time left before she kills us."

He chuckles slightly. "Yeah, that's probably true."

"So... how long have they been abusive?"

He shrugs his shoulders and thinks for a moment. "Since I was thirteen, and I'm almost seventeen now."

"Man, and we had no idea." I rub his arm. "I'm sorry.... how come you've never told anyone?"
