"I think perhaps I will always hold a
candle for you- even until it burns
my hand.
And when the light has long since gone...
I will be there in the darkness holding
what still remains."
~ Ranata SuzukiCHAPTER TEN.
The Next Day.1:50p.m.
I pull on a black, rainbow striped, long sleeved shirt and tuck it into my high waisted jeans.
I grab my basic maroon hoodie off my bed along with my cellphone, wallet, and keys. I jog out of my bedroom and down the stairs. As I reach for the knob someone grabs my arm, forcing me to face them.
I sigh, "Can I help you?"
Kelly smirks, biting her bottom lip. She digs her long, purple nails into my wrist. "I was wondering if you can drop me off at my friends place?"
I shove her hand off of me. "You mean your boy toys place?"
She giggles, "That's exactly what I mean, Sweetie."
She goes to brush a stray hair of mine behind my ear, I grab her wrist with a firm grip and twist her arm. "Touch me again and I'll break your hand."
She cry's in pain as I let go of her arm and walk out the door. She follows behind me like a lost puppy. "Is that a yes?"
"Did that look like a yes?"
She places her hand on my shoulder. "You know what daddy would do if I told him you hurt his little princess... just like what he did last night." She smirks and twirls my hair around her finger. "And you don't want that, now do you? I know you act all tough, but I know your really not." She pauses and runs her finger across my lip. I hiss and brush her hand off of my face. "Oh, it looks like it's bleeding again." She giggles.
I touch my lip and look at her, " Shut up and get in." I wipe my mouth off with the back of my hand. I quickly climb into the drivers seat. I twist the button on the radio and Men At Work booms through the speakers, Kelly reaches for the button, I grab her wrist and glare at her, "Touch it and you will die." I assure her.
She stares at me blankly before pulling her arm away. "God, okay." She grabs her phone out of her purse as it dings. "Actually drop me off at Josie's."
Fifteen minutes later we arrive at Josie's Diner. I quickly pull into a parking spot and pull the keys out of the ignition and lock the doors. I glance as Kelly runs up to her twig of a boy. I pull my phone out of my pocket and see a text from Holly, telling me she's already at Josie's.
"Yo!" A deep voice hollers.
I turn around and see Kelly and her as she puts it, man-candy staring at me. I walk up to them and cross my arms over my chest. "Do you need something?"
