CHAPTER ONE.
My aunt Tessa turns around in the passenger seat and looks at me. I give her a fake smile.
My uncle Ryan glances at me in the rear view mirror. "So I got you a job at a hardware store twenty minutes away from the house."
"Gee, thanks." I reply before looking back down at my phone.
"Paisley, don't be such a smart-ass." He says gruffly.
My three cousins stare at me, the twins start giggling and telling each other secrets. Kolby looks over my shoulder at my phone. "Who are you texting?"
"Why should I tell you?" He shrugs and rubs my shoulder. I flick his hand away from me and make a face. "Don't touch me."
"Just because your mom died and we left the funeral today doesn't mean you have to be a bitch." He smirks slyly.
"Jackass." I mumble.
We pull into the driveway and the twins climb on top of me to get out of the car. Once I make my way out of the car I grab a couple of boxes from out of the back. My aunt grabs one of my lamps and shows me to my room.
She pulls down the attic door. "This is where you'll be staying. I will have to discuss with Ryan to see if we will allow you to decorate. No loud music, I know you like to listen to garbage. I will leave you to get the rest of your boxes and unpack." She walks towards the stairs and looks back at me. "Oh, and dinner is whatever you make."
Ryan walks up the stairs and looks me up and down before making a face. "Your car is by the mail box and you start at the hardware store at six. Don't be late!"

5:40p.m.
I pull out my clothes from my luggage and quickly shove them into my dresser drawers. I climb down the attic steps and jog down the stairs. I quietly work my way into the kitchen and grab the makings for a sandwich. Daisy walks into the kitchen and leans against the counter and stares at me.
I glance over at her and pop pieces of chicken on my bread. "Can I help you?"
She glances down at my sandwich and back at me. "Aren't you suppose to be going to work?"
I nod. "Yeah?"
She giggles. "Ew, you like the Beatles?" She gestures towards my shirt.
I look at her shirt and see a bright sparkly pink and purple unicorn. "Ew, you like unicorns?"
She scoffs. "Uh yeah! Unicorns are the best!"
"Are you twelve?" I ask.
She shakes her head and grabs my sandwich from my plate, taking a bite out of it. "Thanks for the dinner!" She chirps before skipping into the living room.
I sigh and place the plate back down on the counter. I guess I'll eat later. I pull my car keys out of my pocket and close the front door behind me. I work my way towards my old, white fiat. I pull out my phone and put the address for the hardware store in google maps.
