"It's just another night
And I'm staring at
The moon.
I saw a shooting star
And I thought
Of you."

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN.
A few days later. Friday, 4:13p.m.

I gaze at myself in the mirror above my dresser. I dab the rest of my dark grey facial mask onto my skin. I hop onto my bed and grab one of my moms books from underneath my pillow. I pop it open and see the bookmark she painted for me, I run my fingers over it. I flip it over and see her beautiful handwriting, telling me how much she loves me along with a poem before she passed, causing tears to form in my eyes. I miss her so much. 'A tidal wave of emotions, have sent my soul out to sea. Crashing currents submersing, what once was you and me. Drifting afar distantly, a glimpse of precious time. While I held you close to me, singing your favorite rhyme. Rocking gently back and forth, arms encircling you whole. Lips pressed upon sweet innocence, your cries I did console-.'

"Knock knock."

I wipe my tears away and push my book back under my pillow. I turn towards the stairs and see Wesley climbing up them. "Hey Wes, what brings you by?"

He walks over to me and rubs his finger along my cheek. "What the hell is on your face?"

I chuckle lightly. "A face mask. Its a thing that you put on your face."

He smirks. "Hence the name face mask." He chuckles. "I was wondering, I have Teddy in the car, we're going bowling, his idea, not mine. Do you want to go?" He inquires.

I nod. "Yeah.... sure. Just let me wash this off my face and I'll be down in a few."

"Okay, I'll be waiting in the car." He walks down the steps. "Oh and Paisley." He pops his head back up. "Make sure you bring a jacket, since you can never remember to grab one." He snickers and leaves my room.

I grab my damp washcloth off my dresser and wipe my face mask off. I grab my jacket, phone, and wallet. I quickly pull on a pair of dark red shoes and walk down the steps. I quickly close the steps and walk past the girls room. I ignore their presence and walk past Kolby's room, I see him making weird faces and flexing in the mirror. Weird? I push the sleeve up on my red and black plaid shirt. I jog down the stairs and reach for the doorknob. As I twist the knob someone grabs my arm forcefully. I spin around on my heels and yank my arm away, Ryan, of course. Why does that surprise me?

"Yes?"

He smirks and crosses his arms over his chest. "Where do you think you're going?"

"Out. With my friends..." He smacks me across the face, making my head fling to one side. I place my hand on my throbbing cheek.

"Don't talk back to me."

"I wasn't..." I murmur.

He grins and raises his hand, making me flinch. "Where are you going, exactly?"

"To the bowling alley..."

"Better." He tells me.

I walk out the door and up to Wesleys car and grab the door handle.

"Oh, and Paisley." Ryan calls out from the porch.

I turn around and look at him. "Yeah?" I say softly.

"Don't be out so late." He tells me.

I nod and quickly hop into the backseat.

"What was that about?" Wesley asks, glancing at me in the rearview mirror.

"He was just telling me to not be out so late." I pull my seatbelt over me and tuck my hair behind my ear. "Hey Teddy!"

"Hey Pais!"
