Pairing: Marc Spector x female!short!Avatar!reader
Summary: When you're summoned for a meeting of the Ennead, something about Marc Spector draws you to him ever since first glance. With Hathor's blessing, you use her gifts to help him against Harrow. If only the goddess you serve wasn't such a tease about your instant crush on her former lover's Avatar.
Warnings: EP 3 SPOILERS, canon-typical violence, mentions of blood and death, reader getting poisoned and passing out, a couple of suggestive comments, my minimal knowledge of Egyptian myths - other than some of Hathor's features (horns and orb of light between them) this is purely how I would choose to portray a goddess of love; kind of insecure reader 'cause I'm the queen of insecurities

Despite the many unfortunate events that had rattled the world in the past few years, it was a surprisingly rare occurrence for the gods to intervene. The gods you knew, at least. So, when the moon greedily swallowed the sun in bright midday, you weren't sure whether you should expect a portal to present itself.
But you weren't exactly surprised when it did. A gateway leading straight into the heart of the Pyramid of Giza, right where your kitchen wall used to be.
"That hasn't happened in-"
"A long time." The melodious voice you knew all too well finished your thought. Most days, being able to hear it was both a gift and a curse. But you couldn't deny that Hathor's beauty was unmatched, and bearing witness to it a privilege. You were reminded of it once again as you looked up at the goddess who had chosen you as her Avatar.
Love, beauty, music, joy was what she represented and protected, what she exuded through every pore of her ethereal being. No mortal could compare to a goddess, but there were some women - most of them with legs for miles - who came pretty damn close. Your rather short stature didn't exactly encourage you to see yourself as one of them. Yet Hathor had seen something in you that she resonated with, that made her want to bestow her gifts upon you and offer you her divine protection in exchange for your pledge to carry out her will.
