You tossed over, shrugging the covers off and to the end of the bed. You straightened them and then pulled them back up, carefully laying back down. And yet still, you were uncomfortable.

It wasn't just your comfort level- it was your mind. Sneaking whispers of "you're not good enough," "nobody needs you," "no one would mind if you disappeared" slammed into your attempted defense of "I'm fine, I'm good, I'm loved."
The truth was that all day, you'd been blown off. No one wanted your assistance. No one wanted your presence. And everyone ignored you when you tried to enter a conversation. You were used to it- at least, you should be. You've always been ignored. It's something you've come to expect.

But today was one of those days when stuff just got to you. When you couldn't ignore the stinging voices or the hurt that was inflicted by the others even if they didn't mean to.

That's exactly the point, a dark thought prods, they didn't care enough to avoid hurting your feelings. They didn't care enough at all.
When you'd realized that nobody wanted anything to do with you today- denying your help, denying your participation, speaking over you as if you weren't there or outright ignoring you- you retreated to the privacy of your room, trying to calm yourself down and stop crying. Nobody came looking when you weren't present for dinner. You weren't exactly surprised.

What you were surprised by was Steven bringing you dinner. "Figured you'd rather have it here," He said as he sat beside you on your couch. You're sure there's evidence on your face of just how bad of a day you've had, but Steven makes no mention of it, and neither do Jake or Marc.

They were the only ones that didn't ignore you. The ones that sought out your presence instead of the other way around. The ones that asked you to help, for your participation, and listened when you spoke. Your best friends... although your feelings for them were a little stronger than that.
