I did fall asleep eventually. Emilio and I woke up in the afternoon. We slept a little longer than intended, but I think it was a good decision. He needs every tiny bit of sleep.

"Honey, I think imma throw up.", he paces around.

"I'm sorry to say this but I'm not doing so well either. We need to be strong for him, Emilio. I don't think we should freak out in front of him.", I put in my earrings, while mentally preparing myself. I stand up and walk in his direction. He turns around and stares at the floor.

"Are you ready?", he slowly nods.

"Good morning, you two. Slept well?", Aria asks us.

"Yes, really well. Thank you.", I smile at her.

"He's in the living room. Let's go.", she leaves first.

I look at Emilio, who's spacing out. He's really not doing well. He has spent so much time working to see his dad and care for him, he was so happy for this moment, but now that this is actually happening, it's scary.

"I'm ready.", he gives me a reassuring smile.

"Me too.", I can do this. I'm really nervous, especially because I don't really how his state is at the moment. I'm really awkward in serious situations, but not this time. It's Emilio's reunion with his dad. I can see it in his eyes, how important this moment is for him.

———

"Dear, they're here.", he's sitting on the couch, slowly turning his head into our direction. His eyes light up as soon as he spotted his son, a wide smile on his face.

"My son. Welcome home, it's nice to see you again after so many years.", Emilio's dad stretched out his arms.

"Dad. It's good to be home again. I missed you.", he sat down, next to his dad. They're hugging, it looks so cute. I'm so happy for Emilio, he finally got to meet his dad.

"Dad, this is Eliana, my wife that I've told you about.", they look at me, pulling me back into reality.

"So, this is the wife I've heard about. Are there any grandkids yet?", we all laugh. But I hope that there will be someday.

"Hello, I'm Eliana Bello.", I settle next to Emilio.

"You don't have the same last name?", his dad is confused.

"No, I thought she might want to keep her last name. Everything went by fast, we got married rather quickly.", Emilio takes my hand. He's shaking.

"I see. I haven't introduced myself yet, my name is Cassio Romano, but you can just call me dad, we're family.", he reaches for my hand.

He's so sweet. I really love my new family. Emilio's parents are amazing, his brother and cousin are nice too. I take Cassio's hand and smile at him.

"You all look lovely together, let me prepare something to snack.", she gets up.

"Oh let me help you.", I squeeze his hand and kiss Emilio's cheek before I follow Aria.

She decided to make some coffee and crochettes. She showed me how to do it and explained everything to me.

I was making my coffee when she started talking.

"I've never seen Emilio like this before.", she looks into the living room, where her husband and son are sitting.

"What do you mean?"

"You're the first one he's ever brought home. The way he looks at you is so special, really reminds me of his dad. When we were young, we were just like the two of you. So deeply in love.", she smiles. Emilio definitely takes after his mom. That smile, looks just the same.

"I really love him. And I thought he was joking when he told me that I'm the first one he's brought home.", I watch him, Emilio looks so happy. The way he talks to his dad.

"No really, he has never taken anyone home. I'm sure that he was never dating either. He was a wild child, a little problematic, but it seems like my boy is growing up. Thank you, Eliana.", I giggle.

"Why are you giggling?", she smiles.

"You and Emilio are the same. The way you smile, say my name, just everything."

"I guess he really does take after me.", she laughs.
