Why is it so important to me to not seem weak in front of him?

I couldn't move away, I couldn't run away.

It would ruin my ego. Shatter it into a million pieces.

But when I think back, his eyes were...so deep. I completely lost myself. It was like I was somewhere else and I didn't realize what was happening. He glued me down to the floor, disabled me with just one look. It's incredible how much he affected me. No one's eyes could ever compare. I didn't even know that eyes could take over my entire body. That they can have such an affect.

I met him two weeks ago but I can't seem to recover from it. He was so intense. I can still feel it, his eyes on my body, his hand cupping my face and his thumb on my lip.

I got up at 8am today. Later than usual. I just couldn't bring myself to get ready for the day. Since I got up late, I asked Gabriel to pick me up and drop off me nearby my uni.

„Hello? Are you even listening?"

„Yea yea sure", I say.

„C'mon girl, this time is different. He's special."

„You said this about the last one too and the other five guys, Ivy."

Ivy's my best and pretty much my only friend, we've known each other for 6 years now. She's always running after weird guys who use her and dump her after they had fun. I don't even know how someone can be so clever and stupid at the same time. I really love her but how can she be so naive?

„Hey, how can you say that?! He's a genuine and nice guy.", she looks so desperate and I actually feel sorry for her.

„Prove it. If you can prove me wrong and show me that he is a nice guy then I will approve. If you can't prove it, I will kick his ass.", we shake hands and seal the deal. 

We finished all the lectures for today. I slowly pack my things. I'm still thinking about Emilio's eyes. I can't forget the feeling I had. Ivy's already waiting for me. We walk towards the entrance, in silence, side by side.

I wonder why there're so many people standing in front of the gate, but don't pay much attention to it.

„Ok, I have thought of something", Ivy says beside me.

„What?", what is she talking about?

„I think I know how to prove you wrong.", she looks so excited.

„You really do?", actually I'm surprised. I didn't think she would think of something this quickly. But sadly, I think she will disappoint me.

„Yes I do.", wow since when does she have this many teeth? She looks like that cat from Alice in Wonderland.

We're outside and there're more people than I expected. What are they all mumbling about?

I see a black, very expensive car parked and who's leaning against it? Yeah, you guessed it. Emilio. Looking down at his phone.

I stop walking. Fuck.

What is he doing here?

What am I gonna do?

No one knows of this and I hoped that it stays that way.

Apparently not, because this idiot ruined everything.

He noticed me and pushes himself off his car and walks in my direction.

I just stare at him and ask: „What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at work?"

„What, can't I pick my wife up from school and take her out to lunch?", he keeps his poker face on well. I'm impressed.

But I cringe when I heard „wife". I have to keep calm. Ivy is staring at me with that you gotta explain that look. I'm really stressed right now and don't know how to handle this so I shoot her a sorry look.

Emilio opens the door and waits for me to get in. I don't wanna cause more commotion so I do. This is gonna start rumors.

We haven't talked in 5 minutes and this awkward silence is killing me.

„What do you want to eat?", he looks over to me.

„I don't know, you choose."

„Is Italian ok for you?", he asks.

„Yes, sounds great."

A few more minutes pass and I can't bear it anymore. This question is all I can think of.

„Why did you come?"

„Like I said, I want to take my wife out to lunch.", dude are you kidding? That is not what I wanted to hear.

I hum and look out the window.

His presence is suffocating me. I haven't seen him since our first encounter. Being in this small room doesn't feel so good. He is just too close, I could touch him if I wanted to and the problem is that I don't know if I can resist.

I feel the urge to look over to him and I can't believe my eyes.
