"So y'all just going to stand here and look at each other like a Spider-Man meme come to life?" Simone crossed her arms against her chest falling back onto the couch pillows."I really think Amara should be the one to tell you." Zeke sighed, rubbing his forehead. He felt like his hands were tied.
He thought this was something Amara had already cleared the air about. Simone wasn't a little kid anymore. He didn't want to be the one to tell her. It wasn't his place. Simone nodded, making the call to her parents and her aunt. Somebody was going to explain to her what the hell was going on and fast.
"Funny how everyone knows but the person it actually affects."
She was patient. She was going to listen to everyone and decide for herself. Simone had heard all her life that she looked like her aunt. Her aunt was often around way more than her parents were. She learned a lot from her aunt and now it just wasn't making much sense. Why the wait? Why the lies?
"I might have a slight confession." Jordan raised his hand like a child.
"Save it. I am sure it can't nearly be as bad as this." She didn't know how this to could get anymore worse.
"Your aunt... I don't know...." He paused before speaking again trying to find the right words.
"She felt.... guilty so she told me. She told me not to tell you and I never told you because she should be the one to tell you." Jordan blurted very quickly that she had to mentally replay his words.
"Well... thank you for sharing that information that could've been taken to your grave." Simone didn't mean for her words to come off harshly. She knew that it wasn't a tone he wasn't used to.
She had one person to be upset with and she had yet to arrive. Hell, Simone didn't even know her aunt was in town. She just wanted a do over of the night already. Her day had went by smoothly until this. She really didn't want to be involved in the engagement of her aunt - mother , whatever being married to her best friend's father. She thought they would've ended things years ago.
"I'll get it." Jordan was glad that Matt was out with friends.
He really didn't know what to say. There wasn't much he could say but he felt like he owed her an apology. It wasn't something that ate away at him. Jordan wasn't a liar though. He couldn't fight her demons and be caught in between her family issues. It seemed like they were on the right path with wedding planning with Olivia then this just decided to put a damper in everything.
"Hi Jordan." Amara said softly.
"Hi." He took notice of her parents and moved letting all three in.
No matter how this went, he was on Simone's side. Even if she was pissed at him by the end of it. He probably should've taken it to his grave. Jordan watched as they gathered around his living room. Keisha took the seat he previously had already wrapping her arms around Simone. He hated that things were going so smoothly just for this bombshell to hit.
"Hi Babygirl." Amara politely asked Keisha to move over.
"Skip the greetings." Simone stared at the blank television.
"I know you have a lot of questions and - " Robert started.
"No need to beat around the bush, I am not a child." Simone's leg started bouncing.
Jordan rested his hand on her leg. He hated not seeing her happy. He knew that she deserved the truth but he didn't expect other people to be here or himself for that matter. He wanted to protect Simone from all the evil in the world even if it meant her own family. The room fell silent again.
