Peter

My knee bounced rapidly as I sat on a bench outside of the building. I couldn't stop the tears that fell from my eyes.

"Hey." I recognized Tony's voice before he sat next to me. I sniffed and didn't reply until he spoke again. "I told you not to get close."

"I was far enough away." I stated simply. I didn't want to talk to him, I feel like his words were predictable and harsh.

"Yeah you're right." He surprised me. "Maybe it's good if you talk to her." I finally looked over to him and saw his face was genuine. "She's still in there. I didn't know her, but I could feel it. That nickname you called her? It grounded her. It brought something back to the light, okay? So don't- don't cry. Don't do this, kid." His arms waved around as he got uncomfortable with the emotions. "You've got the greatest geniuses in the world behind this."

As much as I didn't want to admit it, his words did help.

"Thanks Mr. Stark."

"Yeah well. Go home." He stood up.

"What?" I followed his move. He couldn't be serious.

"You heard me, go home." He turned to face me now. "There's nothing more you can do tonight. She can't get out. She's not going anywhere." He whipped out his phone and sent a text. "Happy will be down shortly."

"Tony I-"

"After all this time, you're still arguing with me?" He interrupted me. "Go! Come back tomorrow with a plan." He ushered me towards the car as Happy walked outside.

A plan? What could I possibly plan?

"What about Y/n?" I asked, looking back at him.

"Easy, we just can't let Vision near her. I've got a tank to hold Bruce, she's not going anywhere." His words didn't bring anymore comfort, but I got into the car anyways.

Narrator

You sat silently in the corner, staring into the distance at nothing. The ground was cold but your skin was warm, not that you noticed or cared.

"Do you need a nightlight or anything" the man you now knew as Tony spoke as he walked into the room. You followed his every move with your eyes, but stayed quiet.

"(Your nickname)." He stated quickly as the two of you held eye contact. Your eyes stayed in a glare as he studied you, hoping to see some of the same reaction as what happened when Peter said it.

He signed and looked down as nothing came from it. Walking to one of the walls, he flicked a switch that covered the room in darkness. Tony could admit to himself that he felt your eyes on him with every step he took out of the room.

"Goodnight (your nickname)." He teased one last time before stepping out of sight, and more than likely to bed.

You relaxed a bit against the wall you were backed into. It was cold and solid, yet it was the only comfort you knew right now.

You were disgusted with the level of fear in your chest. The only thing you knew right now was that you were being held captive in the Avengers' base. You were being metaphorically chained down and physically stopped from soothing the anger in you.

Nobody likes to be a prisoner.

"Get back here you coward!!" You screamed, knowing fully well you would just be ignored. "Let me out!"

You screamed and screamed and screamed. If they wouldn't let you out, you would atleast make sure nobody rested. They would hear your tantrum all night long. Rattling bars, screaming profanities, and eventually heavy sobs.

You felt absolutely helpless to go from wandering wherever you wanted, cleansing the state from falsifiers, to being held in a cell where you were watched like a zoo animal. The feeling of confinement made your bones feel like they were too close together. You couldn't breathe.

"Let me out!!!"
