Peter

"Mr. Stark, can we stop for a minute." I spoke solemnly as I dangled in the air below him. The air was loud in my ears as we traveled at a pretty fast speed. Tony glanced down at me briefly before slowly lowering us both down to the forest floor.

It had been a few hours of silence now, just the sound of the air traveling between the small spaces of my suit. We had so far seen absolutely no sign of Y/n, or anything else for that matter. Just a tree, a tree, a bush, a rock and look at that, another tree.

As soon as my feet touched the grass, my mask flickered away. Quickly and furiously, I threw my fist into the nearest tree and let out a curdling cry. Tony stood where he landed and watched the chips of bark crumble to the ground as I choked out a sob.

"Why did I have to screw this up?" I yelled out, mostly to myself. "God, I'm such a fucking idiot. I shouldn't have lied to her in the first place. Then none of this would have happened at all. I had her, I fucking had her and we were making progress and she fucking left again!" I was pacing now and Tony still had not said anything. He was just following my moves, back and forth like watching a game of tennis.

"How could she leave again?" I wailed. "How could she keep doing this to me?!" I didn't know who I was blaming or who I was mad at.

I let my body fall backwards against a tree and sank down onto my butt, sobbing into my crossed arms that were resting on my knees.

I heard Mr. Stark's footsteps as he walked over to me. Unexpectedly, he knelt down in front of me and put a hand on my shoulder.

"She's afraid." He said simply before standing back up. "Come on, we're losing daylight and I don't feel like camping."

I wiped my face as he held his hand out to me, flicking my mask on and accepting his uncommon gesture. He yanked me to my feet, gave me another pat on the shoulder, and climbed into the sky once again.

I sniffed away whatever was left of my meltdown and quickly shot a web to him, once again reacting to the sudden jolt.

With our eyes peeled, we soared through the sky, slowly making our way towards Canada. I still didn't know how we were going to find her with all of this space between us. There was miles and miles and miles of land to cover, and who's to say she's even going this way anymore?

I guess if I was trying to get away from something, my first priority would be distance, not direction, but that doesn't mean she thinks the same. I barely know who she is anymore, or at least, who she has become.

"What if we don't find her?" I asked out of the blue.

"We will." Tony responded quickly and simply. How could he be so sure? Unless he was just faking it.

Every second we went further, I felt the panic build up worse and worse in my chest. I wanted to speak up again, desperate for a distraction, when I suddenly caught a glimpse of something strange.

"Wait, Mr. Stark, look!" I pointed to the darker spot of the forest. He stopped his movement and looked in the direction I was pointing. He nodded down at me before slowly flying towards the spot, slightly left of where we were going. If I wouldn't have seen it, we would have gone the wrong way.

As we got closer, the once small looking spot grew into a large portion of dead forest.

"Oh my god." I stated as I touched the ground. Tony landed beside me and the two of us explored the diseased looking forest. It looked like someone threw a handful of grenades just for fun. A few feet over from us, a small and muddy creek laid exposed among the ash of plants.
