Peter
"Hey," May called as she walked into my room. I was laying on my bed, staring up at the ceiling above me. May couldn't tell the extreme pain I was in, due to wiping out in a garbage alley. She walked in further as I didn't even flinch, lost in thought.
"How ya doing?" She asked calmly, running a hand through my hair. She cringed as she felt the days with out showering. "Gross, Pete. You need to shower."
I just sighed and moved my head away from her hand.
She pursed her lips and let out a similar sigh. "Pete I-"
"I saw her the other day." I semi-lied. It was a bit ago now.
She looked at me with interested eyes.
"I walked into a coffee shop to ask around," more semi-lies. "And she was there. As soon as she saw me, she took off. I couldn't keep up."
"That means she's okay." She spoke, not knowing what else to say.
"Yeah." I spoke half minded. It had been so long, who knows where she was now.
"Listen, dinner's on in ten." She stated before leaving slowly. I sighed and turned around in the bed.
I knew if I didn't eat, at some point I was going to set Aunt May off. She cared so much, the least I could do was eat her food and give her less to worry about.
I groaned and rolled off of the bed, not even attempting to catch myself as I fell straight onto the floor.
"Peter?" May called loudly.
"I'm coming." I sighed as if she could hear me. I looked up at the door as I heard her footsteps coming down the hall. "I'm coming!" I said a little louder. The door opened wider and a face I hadn't seen in a while walked in.
"Mr. Stark?" I asked weakly, getting off the ground.
"Hey Kid." He took off his sunglasses and looked around my room. He cringed at the energy drink cans, garbage, chip bags, crumbs, and scattered clothes around my room.
"I'm gunna guess the suit is bunched up in the closet?" He stated, pointing at the closet but keeping his eyes on me.
"No offense," I stated, collecting some of the cans. "But why are you here?"
"Good question." He stated again. "May called me. Happy called me. You're causing more trouble on your own than you did with birdman-"
"The Vulture." I corrected him.
"Hey enough with the attitude, I'm here to help you." He raised an eyebrow at me.
"Oh yeah? What help? What could you possibly do? Can you bring her back? No. I got your message from Happy- can't mess with free will. I get it. So why the hell are you here?" I growled out at him, referring to a time I asked for his help two weeks ago.
I was so sick of staying up all night trying to figure things out, and everyone just giving me sympathetic help. I needed physical help.
He gave me a hard look for a few seconds, before softening up.
"I remember how mad I was once when I thought I lost Ms. Pots. I get it. But you are much younger than I was when that happened. Kid, you're too young to worry about this kind of stuff." He spoke.
"I don't care what you say, I loved her. I love her." I sat down, cooling off from my bad mood and sitting on the bed. He sat beside me and nodded.
"I know you did. And believe me when I say we have been keeping an eye out. We always will, you're one of us now. But it may be time to move on from this... teenage, hormonal, crybaby thing,"
He began joking around before getting serious again. "And focus on what you have and can do. This place still needs their friendly neighborhood Spiderman. If she's here, she's here. If she isn't, there's nothing you can do. You know the whole 'if they love you they'll come back' bullshit right? Well, that's the only thing you have left."
"I know. I know you're right. It's just hard to believe." I spoke, sighing.
"It'll be alright, Kid." The silence around us was thickening, neither of us knowing how to talk about things like this.
"Did you hear about that gentlemen's club?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, don't worry about it." He responded, putting his sunglasses on. "We'll ca-"
"-call me if you need me. I got it." I gave a weak, playful smile.
"It's below our paygrade anyways." He nodded once and gave me a tiny sympathetic smile. Even small, it meant a lot from him.
