Peter
"Where are we going?" She asked gently as I guided her by the hand to a door she had never been to. Having my suit on was becoming regular as it meant we could still have delicate moments like this.
"To the roof," I matched her tone as I replied.
"Why?" She asked, stopping as we reached the door. I let go of her hand, pushed it open and moved to the side as I held the door with a smile.
"I think it'll be a peaceful spot to cool off. Better than being cooped up inside." I answered as she walked through the door. She took my hand back quickly and continued to follow me. I watched her closely as her head looked left and right, admiring the world around us.
Tony would probably scold me for having her outside, seeing as she was a runner, but the way she clutched our hands together gave me a gut feeling I needed to trust. Her feet paused as she spotted the treeline we tracked her through. I watched her closely as I felt her hand loosen the slightest in mine.
Please don't run. Please don't run. Please don't run.
We stood still for a few moments, each second making me more nervous, and she stayed completely silent. It was clear she was thinking something over in her head; Should she try? I swallowed the anxiety that was building up in my throat and gave her hand a tight squeeze.
Her eyes shot down to our hands before she looked up at me. I gave her a small smile as I motioned my head for her to walk with me. I took a step forward and mentally sighed as she decided to keep walking with me. I wasn't testing her on purpose, but she passed.
I could hear a large breath of relief exhale from her nose as she seemed at peace with her decision. I couldn't stop the peaceful smile that took over my face as the long grass caressed against our covered legs. Within a few more steps, we neared the ladder I had been searching for.
The silver bars were shiny and like-new as we stared up at the length they reached.
"Ladies first?" I offered and motioned to the ladder. She scoffed but started the climb up.
"Does Spiderman even need a ladder?" She joked from above. I chuckled and looked down at the grass respectfully until she reached the top.
"Better to blend in." I joked back and climbed up quickly. As I reached the top, my smile beamed wider watching her take in the surroundings. She was turning in a full circle, slowly, gazing at all of the open property that was hidden by a surrounding forest. I had never been up here before but I completely understand the tranquility of rooftops.
"There's so much space." She pointed out as she walked to the ledge opposite of where we came from.
"Yeah, it's beautiful." I smiled and walked beside her.
"For a superhero base." She joked and looked at me teasingly. I smirked at her and rolled my eyes before walking backwards a few feet and sitting on some large vent. She stayed silent as she made her way over and sat beside me.
The sun was already setting, barely peeking over the trees and leaving a light glow in our eyes. It was serene. A delicate breeze blew over our skin and whistled in our ears. We just sat still until she spoke up.
"What was the point of meeting him?" She was talking about Bruce.
"What do you mean?"
"Why did you make me do that?"
"I know it feels like nothing came of it but at the very least maybe now you will let him help you." I answered.
"Help me with what?" She just wanted me to say it.
