(A/n: I should have stated this a long time ago but... try to remember my plot line is not entirely canonical. For example, technically Bruce, Wanda and Vision shouldn't be in this part of the story at all because they would have been scattered after Civil War. Just pretend!)

Narrator

Your eyes opened peacefully and tiresomely stared at whatever was in your direct line of sight. Your mattress was warm beneath your (stomach/back/side) as you nuzzled deeper under the covers, clinging to the comfort desperately. For the first time in as far back as you could remember, your body felt like it had gotten enough rest. You had slept phenomenally and every muscle was thanking you with nothing but relaxation.

You let out a soft sigh and sat up in bed, noticing the spot empty next to you. Peter had once again slept beside you last night. It was so intimate and yet not at all; It felt almost normal. You didn't have much more time to think about it before Peter himself walked through the bedroom door.

"Good morning." He greeted softly and closed the door before walking over to you. You smiled softly and looked at the plate of fruit in his hands. "I figured you'd be waking up soon."

"What time is it?" You asked groggily and watched as he sat next to you. You reached across him and picked up some (your favorite fruit) before taking a bite quickly.

"Almost one." He replied and watched you eat the fruit he knew you liked. "Mr. Stark is going crazy out there so I kind of let you sleep as long as you wanted..."

"Why is he freaking out?" You asked after swallowing the fruit and taking another, not at all upset that he let you sleep longer despite Bruce's recommendation of no more than twelve.

"That ceremony thing he's doing." Peter scoffed and ate some fruit with you. "He's barking orders and has a bunch of people here setting things up. Caterers. Chefs. Superheroes. We should definitely stay in here until it's all set up so we don't get yelled at for breathing." He rolled his eyes.

"That's fine." You laughed and leaned against your pillows. "I'm too tired anyways."

"How did you sleep?" He asked and set the plate down between his and your thigh.

"Really good." You smiled and looked at the sheets. "I forgot how enjoyable sleep is."

"It's the best." He laughed with you momentarily before falling serious. "I'm glad you're sleeping better though. It was getting scary."

"I know." You looked at him. "I'm sorry. I'm feeling better everyday." You reassured him. He nodded understandingly and chomped another piece of (fruit). "What's going to happen today?" You asked nervously.

"Just a lot of meeting people." He scoffed and leaned back with you. "You'll have to wear your suit obviously but we get fancy food and don't have to do any work. It'll be fun."

"What if I freak out?" You asked the question you knew you had to.

"You won't." He replied simply.

"Peter." You gave him a look. "Be real."

"If you get too overwhelmed we can come back in here or take a walk," he started. "But you're going to be fine. You said you're feeling better. There's not going to be any reason for you to get defensive."

"I don't know." You sighed, not completely convinced, and looked away.

"I'll be right next to you the whole time." His gloves were covering his hands in a second before he grabbed your uninjured one lightly. "I promise." You glanced at your intertwined hands before giving in and granting him a small smile back.
