Chapter 22
*Jayden POV*
Luthien was about to tell me something as I heard their front gate opened. Shit! I felt a forceful push from her as I frowned. I couldn’t deny that I was slightly hurt with her immediate reaction but I understood why she did that. She didn’t want to put our relationship in jeopardy and so did I. Once I landed my eyes on the person who opened their gate, I knew our relationship might hit the rocks.
The man standing at their gate had a beefy body and taller height than me. He was a bit intimidating but I didn’t faze. He had his arms across his chest and he carried that disapproving face that I wanted to change. No wonder my girl’s terrified of him founding out about us. She hadn’t said a word yet, but his facial expression said it all. That he didn’t approve any of this crap. Not at all. And if only his eyes could kill, I might’ve died minutes ago.
“I-I think you should go.” Luthien whispered so low that only an ant could hear. Thankfully, I heard it but disregarded it. Hell if I need to meet her guardians tonight, so be it. I won’t back down.
I glanced at her frightened face. Her relaxed stance earlier was now so stiff. Her face looked so scared and nervous that her blushing face just a minute ago drained its color once the fucking gate opened. Her face looked like a paper right now. I had to be here with her. She didn’t need to face this person alone.
“No. I think I will stay.” I told her sternly and looked back at the man at the gate.
I knew she might think I had lost it but I won’t fucking leave her and face all the words this person might tell her. If he had something to tell to me, he should tell it on my face no matter what he wanted to say. My girl didn’t deserve any shit he had to say if ever she was right about her uncle being strict and controlling. I won’t let them control her. She had a life for fuck’s sake!
Her uncle cleared his throat as I snapped my eyes back on him cautiously. “Luthein?” his deep and stern voice echoed through the silence.
I immediately held both her shoulders to calm her panicking heart. I knew her well to tell from her face that she was panicking and petrified inside. As if she understood what I was doing, she nodded slowly and faced her uncle who had his lips pursed in a thin line. His brows were slightly scrunched together as my girl started talking.
“Uncle George…”
“Luthien. Get inside.” Her uncle ordered. My girl flinched slightly because of his uncompromising tone but she didn’t move a foot. She stayed in front of me silently. I wanted to be the one in front of her, to protect her from her uncle so I walked beside her quietly as her uncle snapped his head on my direction. I was glad he didn’t break his neck with the speed.
Luthien glanced at me with a decided face as I nodded understanding what she was thinking. It was time. “I’m sorry Uncle George, but you have to hear us out.” Her voice was so calm and kind but I was still surprised how her uncle had his nostrils flaring because she didn’t obeyed.
“I don’t have time to hear the crap you have with this hoodlum.” He said in a disgusted tone. “Now go inside and I will take care of this.”
I felt my eye twitched for a moment because of what he said. He had no right to judge me and for his info, I was not a member of the gang anymore. If he was not my girl’s uncle, I would’ve crashed my fist on his face right the second the words was out his mouth.
My hand which I didn’t realize was in a ball right now, was being held tight by Luthien. I opened my hand, relaxingly and slipped my fingers in between hers. Her uncle’s nose flared more with our gesture.
