Chapter 16

I entered Jayden’s house quite relaxed than how I felt while at the cab. The interior of their house were painted cream with pearly white curtains draping from their window. They’re house was enough for them. It’s not that big and not that small, just enough. From the front door, the right side included their dining area to their kitchen and a back door. On the left side was their entertainment room and opposite the front door was the stairway to their second floor.

The interior design of their house was simple but elegant as expected from the British head of their family. I was pulled from my thoughts as someone from below me pulled the hem of my checkered blouse. “Are the doughnuts for me?” the little boy asked me as he peaked inside the box I was holding.

“Damen, later!” Mrs. Owen warned the little boy, Damen. He had a jet black bed hair, small squinting eyes like Jayden’s and Mrs. Owen, small straight nose, light skin and I think three and a half feet tall. “Sorry for the eagerness of this boy Luthien.” Mrs. Owen apologized.

“Oh, it’s not a problem. He’s just so adorable! And actually I brought these doughnuts for you guys! I don’t want to bust in here empty handed.” I said as I placed the boxed doughnuts on their clear glass coffee table. I wonder where my shyness went. First, I acted this cheerful and comfortable with Jayden and now with his family.

“How thoughtful of you dear, why thank you!” Mrs. Owen said. “Anyway, thanks again this time for having my silly boy in your place last night. I thought he was staying at the farm because it was quite late. Bryan wanted him to know all about that business though that silly boy told us his not interested.”I smiled sheepishly as I noticed that I’m being informed with the details that the family should only know. “Don’t worry dear, I ought to say this to you. I know Jayden won’t have the initiative to tell these things to you. I know my son well.” She explained and winked at me.

“Blimey! Is that Luthien?” I heard a deep and different accent intervened in our conversation.

“Yes Dad, Luthien here is visiting!” she replied to Mr. Watson who approached us.

“Hi Mr. Watson, good afternoon!” I beamed a smile at him as he approached us in the entertainment room.

“I agree it’s a good afternoon seeing you especially. If our Jayden saw you he might instantly wake up!” he pointed upstairs as he chuckled.

“Oh, honey, Luthien. Why don’t you check on him upstairs? The first door to your left, that’s he’s room. I believe he worked himself hard for the past few days that got him terribly ill.”

From the way Mrs. Owen said that Jayden was sick, I felt guilt wash all over me as I thought of last night. That’s why he’s been acting quite odd and off. That’s why he’s kisses were so warm than normal. How stupid of me to think that he was just that hot for me. Maybe I was growing conceited because of him? I wanted to slap myself right now! I even made him change Lucy’s diapers and he obliged although he felt sick already! Good thing I insisted on washing the dishes.

“Go on now honey, go upstairs.” Mrs. Owen pushed me towards the stairs as I smiled nervously and nodded. I walked straight upstairs as I heard my drumming heart from my chest louder than my footsteps. The stairway was not that long and once I reached the top, in front of me was a passage with five dirty white colored doors – two on my left, two on my right and one at the end of the hallway. I didn’t attend to the other doors since Mrs. Owen said that Jayden’s door will be the first door to my left.
