Chapter 8

I’ve been working my ass for three straight days for school works such as assignments, reports and requirements. Our professor in Commercial Cooking let us decide whether to work alone or by pairs. Well, I’ve decided to work alone since Blake and Ness we’re doing great together doing all of these stuffs. Ness apologized to me about this matter ‘me working alone thing’. I disregarded her apologies as I encouraged her still to pair up with Blake. It’s a chance you know! Also, I haven’t talked to Jayden for a while. He’s been missing in classes with Drake and Adam and not answering my calls. I wonder what he’s been up to.

“Blake!” I called him as I jogged along the hallway seeing him holding several manuals as he faced me with a smirk on his ever so good features like Jayden’s. Blake is a foot taller than Jayden, but Jayden seemed to be the bossy one in their friendship and that only meant that I’m twice smaller than Blake. His eyes scanned me as I approached him. I rested my hands on my thighs and leaned slightly forward to calm my breathing. I was never into sports so I get tired easily.

“What’s up?” Blake asked smiling at me.

“Have you seen Jayden? I haven’t seen him for a while.” I inquired hopefully pushing my glasses slightly on my nose.

“Uh…I’m not sure.” He said almost in a whisper gazing his eyes on a bulletin board on our left side pressing his lips together.

“Not sure?” I asked confusion in my tone as I wiped tiny drops of sweat on my nose with my hankie.

“I’m not sure if I’m the one to be telling you this.” he reluctantly replied as he looked back at me.

“Tell me what?” I asked eagerness enveloping my tone.

“I don’t know Lou. I think it’s better if it’s Jayden who’ll explain these things he’s up to.” he said smirking ruefully.

“Oh, okay.” I sighed in defeat. I guess there’s no use in pushing Blake with these things now.

“I’m sorry Lou.” Blake smiled remorsefully.

“It’s okay. No worries. Anyway, I gotta go to the library to finish some works so…” I trailed off pointing my thumb to the other direction. I guess I just really have to wait.

“Yeah. Right. I’m sorry again. See you later Lou!” I waved him goodbye as I walked to the library entrance.

I really have to get Jayden out of my mind and focus! I shouted in my head. Jayden can wait but my studies can’t. When I reached the library, I left my bag on one of the tables near the librarian. Recognizing me, she smiled at me kindly. I know, I’m such a nerd you don’t have to say it. I roamed the library looking for the Commercial Cooking book to get back from where I left the other day for my report and requirements. I jumped slightly as I felt Sammy vibrated continuously in my pocket. I don’t want to look at it but it seemed like urgent because of the continued vibration in my pocket. I sighed to my lack of discipline and pulled Sammy out of my pocket and looked at the caller ID. It’s ‘freak stalker’ calling. Should I answer it? He’s been calling me everyday. I didn’t expect this to continue but it did. It also seemed like he’s checking on me if I’m still alive or what.

“Hello?” I answered it almost in a whisper.

“Hey!” the voice greeted giddily.

“What?” I snapped feeling disturbed as I rolled my eyes in annoyance.
