Chapter 24
*Luthien’s POV*
“Lou, wake up now. We finally have the lab results.” I heard a girl said as she slightly shoved me.
I groaned wanting to sleep more. I felt so tired. “Later…” I murmured.
Unfortunately, the girl didn’t stop and shoved me harder this time. “Get your small ass awake Lou!” I didn’t move a muscle hoping she would get tired and stop. But I was wrong, the shoving got worse and so did her whiny voice. “Lou! Lou! Luthien! Wake up!” she said my name every time with a shove that just made me so irritated.
“What?!” I snapped annoyed as I came face to face with my red headed sister. Her face showed nothing except her sad eyes. “Don’t give me that look.” I snapped annoyed that she might’ve been practicing on me again.
“I have to tell you something. But it’s not about the lab tests.” Her voice sounded serious so I looked back at her concerned.
“What is it?” I swung my feet off the couch as I looked at her expectantly.
“Jayden left. He said he had to go somewhere and just call him whenever you woke up. He even left a dollar to me to get you hot cocoa when you wake up.” She said quietly.
“Oh, did he say where he was going?” I asked curiously.
I wrapped the jacket on my body tightly as I shivered from the cold sterile air of the waiting room. I didn’t remember bringing any of my jackets as I looked down on my body. I was wrapped warmly in Jayden’s oversized hoody and his bonnet on my head slowly fell as I glanced down on me. He was so sweet. He never failed to show that to me. Knowing he left his hoody for me was a bit relaxing because it had his scent all over it. Hey, I’m not a weirdo but it just calmed me down smelling his sweet smoky scent.
“Nope. Anyway, I have to tell you another thing while we’re grabbing your drink.” Ireth said as she pulled me up from where I was comfortably seated making me groan.
Ireth was so good in hiding her expressions but her actions speak louder than her face. She was acting weird. She kept on biting the corners of her lower lip and her eyes flicker every second everywhere. She couldn’t focus her round eyes at one thing for a moment. To add something on her weirdness, she was running her hand through her red hair and to sum everything up, I knew she was nervous about what she wanted to talk with me. And me being easily contaminated by her antics, felt nervous as hell too.
We reached the vending machine and she handed me the dollar. I punched the hot cocoa button and waited for my drink. Ones it was out, I grabbed it and clutched it in my cold hands. It was really cold in this hospital and I never felt good being here. It was cold and empty. I hated this place.
We started walking again as we reached the exit of the hospital. We stood outside where I felt a little bit relaxed being away from the germ-free place. The sun was rising making the sky looked so light and revealing different shades of orange. It was beautiful and I hoped this day would be as beautiful as the sunrise.
”So what’s so important that we have to talk about, that you have to take me away from the others?” I tried to lighten up the atmosphere but obviously failed.
“This is serious Luthien and I need a word from you right now.” she said seriously gazing to my eyes.
I hated her being serious because sometimes she was practicing with me then sometimes she was really really serious. The last time I saw her this serious was when our father left us and realized that he will never come back.
