Chapter 17
Luthien’s POV
I hummed my favorite No Ordinary Love tune to Jayden to help him fall asleep. To my surprise, he immediately fell into a deep slumber while resting his head on my chest and draping his arm around my waist. It was like he never wanted me to leave his side. I ran my hand to his soft woody hair softly as I stared at his peaceful face taking myself back to the things that happened earlier. I never imagined how he will confess to me, but he just did earlier and it struck me hard. It hit me like a baseball bat reminding me that I must tell this now to my family and accept whatever the outcome may be.
I’d like them to understand how this thing happened between Jayden and I without them having doubts on him. I thought this was easy at first because I never thought I’d fall for him. But this was harder than I thought since I knew Jayden was a part of a gang before that will make things a lot complicated if I will tell them the real story. Should I sugar coat it or face the consequences of the truth?
Sammy vibrated from Jayden’s night table as I reached for it and answered it without looking at the caller ID since I’m too busy thinking of a plan. “Hello?”
“Princess! Where are you?” crap! Just crap!
“Uncle George?” I answered confidently but turns out my words came out in a questioning tone.
“Yes, do you expect another person calling you Princess that I must know?” he replied with complete interest in his voice.
“Uh.. no! no! I was just… uhm… Why are you calling?” I breathe out nervously hoping he didn’t notice my voice a bit shaky.
“I’m just about to ask if you’re coming home before dinner.” He replied as if he was busy on the other line of the phone about something.
”Sure! Why wouldn’t I be?” I told him as I smiled to myself but still with a tense feeling in me.
“Okay, it’s Italian night so is Pepperoni Pizza good?” he asked me.
“Yeah…perfect!” I replied in a lighter tone for him to not notice anything. So I guess they’re all home waiting for me since their doing the traditional themed dinner and tonight’s my favorite, Italian. But I just can’t seem to shake the anxiety I was feeling for this relationship to be excited about the food.
“Good! Where are you anyway?”
I gulped as I tried to relax my voice, “Uhm… I told Mommy I’ll be tutoring one of my mates.”
He was silent for a bit, “I heard that, why’s it quiet? From what I heard you’ll be in a coffee shop.” Suspicion was now obvious in his voice as my hand shook a bit of being caught.
Will he ever stop asking questions? Oh my… I just might spill things accidentally. I hate lying, but for now, that’s my only way to be with Jayden. “We decided to do this in the city library Uncle George since the coffee shop’s a bit crowded.” I reasoned hoping he’ll buy it.
