Chapter 30

“I’m done Andrea! Kiss me good night to baby Lucy!” I hollered to the stockroom as I packed my things and punched my time card at the end of my duty.

“Alright, hun! Be careful on your way home!” she hollered back as I smiled.

I stepped out of the café feeling so relaxed and relieved that I made a successful productive day without breaking down or thinking of something I shouldn’t. Now, what would I like for dinner? I’ll be staying home alone tonight till tomorrow and I think –

I stopped on my tracks as a cold wind whipped on my face giving me the strange shivers. I didn’t feel so good about tonight. It was as if something bad was about to happen.

“Hey! I can’t believe you’re walking away from me.” someone whined from behind me as I faced him.

I winced remembering that I agreed on going out with Drake. “Drake…” I mumbled as he flashed a smile on my direction. He jogged towards me and wrapped me in a bear hug.

“Are you cold?” he asked concerned.

“N-No. What are you doing?” I asked pushing him slightly away from me feeling my cheeks warming up.

He chuckled, “I’m waiting for you silly. Come on, what do you want for dinner?” he asked grabbing my hand to his warm palms.

“Er… Ben and Jerry’s?” I suggested as he chuckled.

“Good plan for the dessert, how about for the main course?” he asked expectantly as he opened the passenger’s door for me.

“Uhm… that’s my main course everyday Drake…” I trailed off stepping inside. I watched him jog to the driver’s door while I fumbled with my seatbelt.

He opened the door and stepped inside. “It’s not healthy for you to continue that you know.” he stated seriously as I sighed. He started the engine and drove away from the café.

“I know. I just couldn’t take solid foods. I can swallow it but then I’ll barf it after five minutes.” I explained as he sighed too.

“That’s not good. And yet you have the energy to work…” he tsked.

“Yeah I still do. Sugar keeps me going.” I smiled to that.

But he sighed deeply and wondered, “What will I ever do for you to eat normal again?”

“I don’t know either…” I murmured. “Where are we going anyway?”

“That my sugar, you have to wait to see.” He smirked handsomely and winked to my direction. He was acting mysterious and sweet again that sometimes I wonder why he was doing these things. He chuckled pulling me out from my thoughts. “I already told you, I just want you to have some fun tonight.”

My eyes went wide with surprise, “I can’t believe I just said that out loud.” I face palmed myself as he chuckled more.

“You’re so cute when you found yourself guilty.” Drake commented and pinched my cheek softly. Soon he pulled over at the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant with a smirk on his face. “I know just what food you’ll eat.”

I looked at him curiously as he let the engine of his car running. He climbed out of his car and jogged to the entrance of the restaurant. I was fumbling with his radio as I waited for him. I heard the familiar jingle of the door of the restaurant as he came out with paper bags and a smile on his face. He walked towards his car and opened the door.

“Now, we’re ready and I’ll make sure you eat everything I bought.“ He smiled proudly as I settled on my seat with content.

“Thank God you invited me to go out tonight.” I smiled gratefully at him.
