Chapter 9

I stood from where I was hiding as I started slipping my arms in the leather jacket’s warm sleeves. I breathe in for air surprised that it came more of like a sniff. I felt my hands getting cold as I tucked it in the leather jacket’s pockets.

“Cutie pie-“

“I’ll just grab some hot soup from the corner of the next street I eyed on when we came here Ness, if you guys don’t mind.” I cut off Jayden shrugging and lying to my friends. I don’t feel like talking to him and hearing all of his secrets today. If he really cared he should’ve at least returned my calls. How was I supposed to believe a man who mostly jumps from one woman to another? My head was throbbing madly that I need to buy aspirin now. I lost the other one from my bag and I don’t want to interrupt their meeting or whatsoever.

“Lou, are you okay? It’s getting dark.” Ness quickly replied to me sounding concerned. “I can make soup for you, if you want?”

I just waved my hand dismissively at them as I faced them my back. Really, I just wanted to escape and get this headache gone. I heard them talking again but I didn’t mind them as I started walking and staring at the pavements. To be honest, I was quite surprised seeing Jayden again and him calling me ‘cutie pie’ in front of Ness and Blake. He’s getting strange. But still, I don’t want to talk to him right now. I know he’ll bug me until I bulge my eyes out of annoyance.

I then looked at the sky making me think if the pavements were transferred on my head because of the grayish color of the sky. Just then, I felt myself pretty tired. My breath was warm as I tried heating up my freezing hands. I turned right out of Ness’ street to get to the actually pharmacy that I saw, not a restaurant or food stall. I stopped walking recalling if I have money in my pocket as I scanned myself with my hands. Crap. Just great that I left it and I was in Ness’ home wear.

I walked still although I don’t have money with me. Maybe I can ask the pharmacist if I can pay it later and I really just wanted to escape from Jayden. I know that I’ve been looking for him, asking continuously so you might think that I’m daft with my sudden change of attitude upon seeing him. I’m sorry I’m just not in the mood to talk to him right now. I heard fast foot steps from my back. I glanced slightly to see who it was. I can’t see the person properly since it had gotten darker than before. The person can just over take on me since I’m walking quite slowly than my normal pace but the person didn’t. Instead that person walked slowly too behind me, unless this person’s following me? I abruptly thought of ‘freak stalker’. The pain in my head pounded as I thought of something to get this stranger stop following me.

I started trotting and shivering as the wind nipped on my exposed skin. I suddenly stopped feeling a little queasy as my head thumped harder. I slightly leaned forward to rest my hands on my thighs but as soon as I saw the person catching up on me, I started to run to the pharmacy. I can see it now. I’m almost there! I shouted to myself as I heard another person shouting my name but I didn’t care to glance at the person.

I gasped as someone grabbed my forearm stopping me from my pace. I’m totally out of breath as I faced the person who pulled me to a stop. “J-Jayden?” I asked breathlessly relief washing all over me.

He chuckled as he replied to me seemed to be breathless as I was, “Have you tried running for the sports events? You’re a speedy for someone with short legs.”
