Chapter 31

“Dad?” I whispered in disbelief.

“Baby doll?” he asked back with the familiar handsome smile my Mom used to love. My heart clenched as I heard him called me that nickname. I was a Daddy’s girl. I should be happy that he still called me that but deep inside, I just couldn’t shake the anger off because he left us without a word.

I removed Jayden’s arms around me but he pulled me back to his chest. “Boss.” Jayden called sternly.

What? I snapped my head back to Jayden and to my Dad. My Dad’s the Boss? “What are you saying?” I snapped at him. “You knew that you’re Boss is my father?”

He shook his head and remained silent glaring at my father. “Baby doll, do you want to talk?”

I nodded but Jayden tightened his grip on my waist. “He is the Boss Luthien. Don’t tell me you trust him after all what he did.”

“I never said that I’d trust him in just a snap and Jayden, he may be your Boss but he’s still my father.” I explained as he dropped his arms from my waist. I walked straight to the door and ignored the other people surrounding us. “You’ve got loads of explaining to do, Dad.” I curtly said as I dragged him away from the others.

We reached an empty office as I closed the door behind me. He sat on an ergonomic chair behind a desk and smiled at me. “Where do you want me to start baby doll?”

“I want you to start by not calling me baby doll…you don’t have any right anymore.” I started as he sighed.

“I know.” He murmured with a hurt face.

“Tell me, since when have you been in this bullshit?” I asked as anger started to bubble in me.

“Language please.” He scolded me.

I scoffed. “Don’t play innocent Dad. I know you’ve been doing nasty since you’re the Boss of this group.”

“I had no choice. I needed the money to help Arwen for her meds.”

“Don’t bring mom up! She has nothing to do with your dirty business!” I snapped. Why did he have to include my mom, who passed away, in this sick conversation? Didn’t he have any respect left for her? “And don’t you dare talk about her.”

“Luthien, I only helped in delivering information in this group. They paid me for every bit of information I can give them. But when their leader died, they put me in charge because I knew a lot of things I shouldn’t. I had no choice.”

“Though I had seen you cheated on Mom, we still accepted you. But after mom died, why did you leave? Why didn’t you come back for us? You’re being unreasonable right now.” I said knowing I couldn’t wait more minutes of agony with him. I needed his answer now.

“I had an oath to take. I broke up everything with her to keep her and you kids safe. I didn’t know she’ll easily give up.” He shook his head slowly as his voice went thick. ”The day of the burial of Arwen, was the last day I decided to see the three of you. I had to leave you to your aunt Faye because I know you’ll live a peaceful and normal life with her. With me is a whole lot of trouble.” He explained. My mom, did she knew everything about my dad?

“I can’t believe you didn’t even tell us what was happening…” I murmured and sat down. He gave me a bottle of water and gave me a small smile.

“Baby doll, please forgive your dad…” he begged. “I never wanted you growing up without a father. I just never had the choice.”

“And do you think if you come back as our father this nasty will change? Do you think it’s that easy?” I asked raising a brow.
