~Flashback~

A five-year-old Amy is dangling from a tree branch with the new bow she received from her father. She aimed her bow, trying her hardest to keep steady as she swayed.

"Are you gonna shoot that thing or not?" A six-year-old Shade says, sitting on the ground, looking rather impatient. Amy frowned, "Shade, shut up; I know what I'm doing!" "Well, it feels like we've been here all day! I'm surprised the blood hasn't rushed to your head..." "I said, shut up!"

Amy took a deep breath, then pulled her bow back. She fired the arrow, causing it to lodge in a tree behind Shade.

Shade smirked, "Ha, you missed." Amy scoffed, then hopped down from the tree, "You threw me off! You're lucky I did too, otherwise, you'd have an arrow in your knee, and then you'd never be a knight like my father." She slowly began to frown, "...Who says I want to be?"

Shade grunted and then fell to the ground, gripping her side. Amy panics and quickly checks on her, "Are you okay?!" "It hurts!" "Where does it hurt, Shade?!" Shade groaned, "Why did you shoot me with an arrow, Amelia?!"

Amy backed away in shock, "What?!" Shade dramatically reached out her hand, "Sir Rose! Help me..." Amy jumped when she heard her father sigh, "Amelia..."

She turned around with a saddened expression, "Father, I didn't shoot her! I swear it." Alexander looked at her and frowned, "Didn't I tell you two to stay inside with your mother?" Amy sighs, "Yes, father. It's just I've never been near the Felis kingdom before. It is the home of the ancient sorcerers. I mean, look at how beautiful this forest is. I only wanted to see a little of what it was like."

Alexander ruffled her hair, "I understand your excitement, Amelia. However, please remember why we are out here. We mustn't let our guard down." She reclimbs the tree and concentrates, "But you never said why we were out here in the first place." "I'm here to speak with the Queen. I must speak with her about our fight against Merek before it is too late." "Why?"  "Never you mind, Amelia. Concentrate."

He turns his attention to Shade and pulls out some bandages, "You can stop the show, Shade. I know she didn't hit you, she's not that good yet." "Hey!"

Shade sat up laughing at Amy, "Told you." Alexander chuckles at her, "I see you haven't treated your wounds kindly." Shade shakes her head, "I never learned how to do it. All my parents ever taught me to do was to run, hide, or escape...my siblings weren't old enough to learn that lesson, though."

He wrapped the bandages around her stomach, then ruffled her hair as well, "Did you at least see what your attackers looked like?" Shade looked down, "...They looked like you." She pointed at the crown necklace around his neck. His eyes widened, "The echidna family...By the gods, then you must know-,"

"Father! I hear horses coming our way." Amy shouts from the tree. Alexander stands up and hands Shade a bucket of water he was carrying with him, "Amelia, you two take this water to your mother, and do not leave the hut under any circumstances!" Amy jumps into her father's arms and then he places her on the ground. She panics a little, "Who are they, father?" "In the hut, Amelia, now!"
