{Sonic} A Medieval Story

Old Wounds, New Fights

Sonic lies sprawled on the ground, unconscious, and his stabbed wound is patched up. He had been unconscious for hours, and finally felt himself coming to. He feels the pain from his wound and takes a deep breath. He looks down at his stomach and sees the sloppy patch job. He gently touches it and tenses at the pain, taking a deep breath as he does so. Upon doing so, he inhales an unpleasant odor of sulfur and smoke, causing him to panic.

He jolts up and looks around, gripping his side. He frowns in confusion, "What's going on? Where..." As he realizes the familiarity of the scene, his heart drops. "...No..."

"Yes, your Majesty. You're exactly where you think you are." Sonic grits his teeth at the sound of that familiar voice and whips around to lock eyes with those of the former head knight, Fenriz. He clenches his fist, "I've grown tired of your games, Fenriz. Why have you brought me here?!" Fenriz playfully pouts, "Oh no, please, King Sonic, I'm ever so scared!" He spits on the ground beside him and chuckles.

"Spare me the spectacles. You're in no position to play the fearsome speed demon in your current state. 'Less you wish to bleed out quicker?" He pokes Sonic in his wound, making him groan and wince in pain. Fenriz smiles and walks behind him, "As to why I brought you here, well, it's simple. That was always the plan...for quite some time, as it happens." Sonic looks at him in confusion and exhaustion.

Fenriz smiles and nods, "Yes, Sonic. As I'm sure by your judgmental glares and cold demeanor toward me, you've come to the realization that it was I who betrayed Mobius all along." Sonic doesn't budge and keeps a hardened expression. "Yes, my dear King...I betrayed your precious father. I betrayed that filthy, wretched kingdom. And...I almost...almost had you killed. It was all me." He lets out a deep breath and laughs, "Whew, I feel so much lighter. That was refreshing. I've held that in far too long; it feels good to let it out."

Sonic shakes his head, "...Why?" Fenriz looks at him in confusion, "Why?" "Mobius...is your home, too. You've fought for its people as well as the royal family for years, far before I was ever even conceived. Why turn on that?"

Fenriz chuckles a bit, slowly letting out an uncontrollable laugh, "My...my dear boy, I am no Mobian! Oh, forgive me, I figured you knew." "Knew what?" "Believe it or not, I am actually a former member of the Felis kingdom." Sonic flinches, "...The...Felis Kingdom? Then you are...you're a...?" "A sorcerer? Yes, I was." He removes his glove, showing his burnt hand and a silver ring with a large red gem in the center.

He frowns, "The Felis kingdom is a land of sorcerers with close ties to ancient sorcerer gods, as well as the ancient gods, as you know. Such a land, of course, has strict and high-standard laws. So when those law lovers saw me practicing sorcery that did not match up with their own...naturally, they were not pleased." He rubs his burnt arm and chuckles, "They consulted with the ancient sorcerer gods, and they stripped me of my powers, banishing me from the kingdom." 

(A/N: I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but I'll say it here just in case. The Ancient gods are different from the Ancient sorcerer gods. The ancient sorcerer gods are descendants of the Ancient gods and practice sorcery in aid of mortals. Their powers are much more powerful than regular sorcerers, and they can even remove another sorcerer's powers. Amy's mother and Silver's parents were ancient sorcerer gods, and they were born from Ancient gods.)
