{Sonic} A Medieval Story

Into the Cave, Never Out

~Meanwhile~

As the battle between the nation and the Broncos kingdom takes place below, Sonic and Amy scale the very steep, bone-dry mountain, taking care not to slide down as they push forward. They carefully avoid the many boulders rolling down their path on the way up.

Sonic frowns as he side-steps out of the boulder's way, "This is insane. The sun will rise by the time we reach Merek. Why don't I just run us up there?" Amy rolls her eyes. "As much as I love the thought of having bugs in my teeth, your speed would shake this already unstable mountain, and we'll have more boulders to deal with." She dodges a boulder, "And that's if we even manage to get up there and not slide down on this uneven ground." He sighs, "I'm just not used to moving this slow. And this is a massive mountain!" She frowns at him, "Sonic..."

He looks at the battle below them with a sullen expression, "They're fighting with their lives out there. This war is becoming brutal on both sides...and we're climbing a mountain. It does not feel right."

Amy walks up to him, kissing him gently. She pulls away, smiling at him, "The war will not end so long as Merek lives. We're gonna be the ones to stop him and end this ongoing war. And if climbing a mountain is what it takes to make sure of it, then that's what we're gonna do. Simply because we must; Is that enough for you, King Sonic?"

Sonic slowly smiles at her and nods. They continue scaling the mountain, and he smirks at her, "I can see why they chose you as leader for your little group." Amy makes a smug expression, "Yeah, well, that was honestly the blacksmith's call. He kind of threatened the girls to go along with it...I didn't have any objections." He raises his brow, "Um, how benevolent?"

He thinks to himself for a moment and frowns, "...So what's the situation between you two?" Amy frowns, "Situation?" "You two are close, and he seems protective of you. Are you guys...you know...involved? Were you ever involved?" She gags, "Um, no! He's a swine! Have you even noticed the other pink hedgehog that clings to him like a bad rash? And may the gods be with the one who tries to remove her from him."

Sonic frowns, "So is he like that Lance guy?" Amy giggles, "Of course not. Lance is a man who knows how to treat a lady." Sonic scoffs at the remark. She ponders, "And Scourge is...like a brother? A weird, creepy brother that I never asked for."

Amy immediately stops walking and frowns, "...Did you hear that?" Sonic looks around, prepares to pull out his sword, "Hear what?" The wind kicks up, and she turns to see the trees in the forbidden forest shaking. She concentrates on the forest and notices large objects flying in their direction. "Look out!" She quickly grabs Sonic's arm, forcing them to slide down the mountain slightly.

Sonic glares in the direction the objects came from, "What...the hell was that?!" Amy places her hands on her mouth, calling to the battle below, "TROLLS!" Sonic frowns at her, "Trolls?!" She grabs his hand again, "We have to hurry, Sonic!" He nods at her and carefully rushes up the mountain with her.

Another large object was tossed in their direction, and Sonic quickly moved them out of the way. The object slams into the mountain, kicking dust in their path and slightly knocking them down. The trolls emerge from the forest and start swinging at the knights, knocking away a few. The knights split up to battle the trolls as well as the Broncos' kingdom.
