In all directions, fire consumed her view. She couldn't escape the current of bodies that pushed into her from every direction. Her head spun. Her breaths left her body but she couldn't acquire more air."Vulpecula!"
Vulpecula's eyes shot wide, she was breathing heavily, sweat coated her skin. She glanced around her to find Ron, Hermione and Harry staring at her, concern written on all their faces.
It was dark outside, the last thing Vulpecula remembered was saying her farewells to Mr and Mrs Weasley. The train's movements made her weak body sway.
"Are you okay, V?" Ron inquired, Vulpecula slowly nodded.
"I just need some air." She said as she stood up and made her way out of the compartment and down the narrow train corridor.
As she walked, she heard a compartment door slide open and shut. The sound made her jump around only to find Theodore stood there.
"Go away." she said before turning and continuing on.
"Who said I was here for you?" He chuckled and walked off in the opposite direction to get changed.
She was so confused by him, one minute he was kissing her, then ignoring her, then saving her after not seeing her for a month, now back to good old fashioned tosser behaviour.
Little did she know, he was the same, only he was actively being a 'tosser' because she had irritated him by running off after their kiss. He concluded to himself that they should go back to how they were prior to third year, hating each other.
Vulpecula was already in her school robes, she didn't know when she'd changed into them. Perhaps before she fell asleep, that was half an hour into the train journey.
She found the door of the carriage and opened the square window. A cold wind attacked her face but she enjoyed every bit of it. The air nipped at her features and blew her hair wild. The sky was full of stars and the half moon seemed rather dull compared to the plethora of stars. Vulpecula stared up at them with big eyes, wishing once more to be up there for even just a moment.
She closed her eyes and focused everything in her on the way the air lashed against her face at high speed. Taking her mind away from everything else; away from Theodore, away from her new house, away from the spiralling thoughts that told her she was nothing, that she was a worthless, horrible human being.
She opened her eyes once more to look at the sky. When she did so she saw the familiar castle on the horizon. She felt a warm feeling grow, as much as she couldn't stand half the students there, Hogwarts was a place of comfort for her.
She turned away from the door of the train and began to walk back to the compartment where her friends resided. On her way back down the narrow corridor, however, she was met once again with Theodore. The two stopped in their tracks, glaring at each other.
Neither of them wanted to speak, the kiss had changed things between them. It meant nothing to them and only happened because they were both high, but now it was weird. Theodore was hellbent on making her life a living hell now.
"Good summer?" Vulpecula asked, her voice casual as she made uncomfortable small talk.
The boy was surprised to say the least. He raised his eyebrows, questioning the legitimacy of her question. When she stared at him blankly he knew she was genuinely asking.
"It was alright, same old summer stuff." Theodore brushed off.
Vulpecula didn't know what his 'same old summer stuff' was, and he didn't want her to. What Theodore was hiding was something that only Blaise knew about and if it was a choice even he wouldn't know. Blaise only knew because he was in the same boat as the boy.
