The Great Hall was filled with the blue light that emitted from the golden goblet that sat centred in the large room. Benches lined the perimeter of the room with students sat and stood around the Goblet of Fire. Rain poured outside and people were running in soaking wet.Hermione and Vulpecula sat on a bench directly in front of the goblet, each with a book in hand. They were discussing their first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson, in which Professor Moody had demonstrated all three of the Unforgivable Curses.
Harry and Ron walked into the hall and were talking of placing their names into the flames. As the two boys reached their friends, the girls overheard the last of their conversation.
"Absolutely not!"
"No!"
The girls shut down the two boys' proposals and they let out groans.
"Guys, you lot do know this tournament is extremely dangerous, you could get killed." Vulpecula informed them.
Ron rolled his eyes, "Yeah, but V, it'd be so cool."
"Yeah, Eternal glory!" Harry added putting his hands up as if revealing invisible words.
"No!" Hermione demanded, the boys sighed and sat down next to them.
Just then, Vulpecula saw her Slytherin friend and not friend walk into the hall, pointing towards the goblet. Vulpecula instantly knew what they were planning, after all they're teenage boys.
She shot up from her spot, Hermione watched amused as her friend stormed over to the two Slytherins and halted in front of them.
"Look who it is!" Blaise said happily as he saw Vulpecula coming over.
"What's got your wand in a knot, Black?" Theodore asked seeing her angered expression.
"Are you two out of your minds? Absolutely not, no way, never!"
The boys stood dumbfounded, staring blankly at the girl berating them.
"How'd you know?" Blaise asked defeatedly
"You're teenage boys offered with the chance of danger, i'd be surprised if you didn't jump at the opportunity."
The boys shrugged in acceptance, knowing Vulpecula was correct. Defeated, they made their way to benches where fellow Slytherins sat and Vulpecula turned back to her Gryffindor friends.
Once settled again, Fred and George burst into the hall. Cheering from all Hogwarts students erupted and there were several whistles and claps to the twins. Vulpecula and Hermione shook their heads disapprovingly while Ron and Harry beamed at the redhead boys.
They passed through the age line that was drawn by Dumbledore to keep out any students under fourteen and counted to three. On three, the twins dropped pieces of parchment into the flames and more cheering filled the hall.
Suddenly everything went silent and eyes directed to the famous Victor Krum, Durmstrang student and Bulgarian seeker. Since his arrival at the school, Ron had been fawning over him, but the adoration he held for Krum soon dissipated at the sight of Victor's eyes lingering on Hermione.
Vulpecula's face fell and, when Victor had dropped his name and left the hall, she turned to Hermione and shook her arm.
"Oh my Merlin, Mione, he definitely has the hots for you!" She squealed
Hermione blushed and put her face in her hands while Vulpecula continued to shake her excitedly. Theodore and Blaise were watching the girls act all giddy with amused smiles on their faces.
