The fresh winter air was crisp. It froze Vulpecula's features as she stood with Hermione and Ron in the Quidditch stands. The game between Gryffindor and Slytherin had been going on for almost two hours and many people were growing bored and tired in the cold.
The teams were at a level score of 90 points each, Theodore and Blaise were Slytherin's chasers alongside Adrian and each had scored three goals each. The Gryffindor girls, Katie, Angelina and Alicia also scored three times each. Draco and Harry had been on the hunt for the golden snitch for what felt like a lifetime.
"I hope Harry catches the snitch soon so we can get back inside." Dean Thomas spoke up from behind the three.
"Me too." Ron agreed with a mouthful of food.
"Ronald, don't speak with your mouth full, it's gross." Vulpecula reprimanded him.
"So that means you'll just never talk because you've always got your mouth stuffed with food, what a dream." Hermione laughed out.
Suddenly a bludger came flying towards the stands where they were stood. Vulpecula froze in fear as it approached at a rapid pace with no sign of stopping. In a flash, the rogue ball was deterred by a figure dressed in green robes, earning sparse cheers from grateful but reluctant Gryffindors. The girls eyes were glued to the beater for a moment, ignoring the route the bludger had taken.
"V, look!" Hermione called, pulling her attention away from the Slytherin beater.
Vulpecula's gaze followed Hermione's outstretched arm and was instantly overcome with worry. What she saw in front of her frightened her greatly.
Falling from his broom, hundreds of feet in the air, was Theodore. Several gasps left those in the stands, some screams and shouts of 'Merlin's beard'. Theodore appeared to be unconscious already as he fell through the air before he suddenly stopped three feet off of the ground and dropped down gently, a result of a quick spell cast by Dumbledore.
"Harry Potter has caught the golden snitch." Lee Jordan's projected voice called over the noise of the crowd.
An uproar sounded from the majority of the stands, Vulpecula drowned out the deafening sound as she remained focused on the boy on the floor. Without a second to think, the girl began to push through the celebrating bodies, ignoring Ron and Hermione's voices calling after her.
Down on the Quidditch pitch, the players all descended and dismounted their brooms.
"What the fuck, Weasley!" Draco called to Fred.
"Oi it was an accident!" He responded equally frustrated "He's a mate, obviously I wouldn't do it on purpose."
"You would if it meant winning, dirty cheat!"
Draco was referring to the unconscious Slytherin who had fallen from his broom as a result of Fred hitting the previously redirected bludger away from Alicia, unbeknownst to him, Theodore was in the direction he sent it in.
"Woah let's all calm it down, yeah?" Blaise attempted to mediate between the two.
"Zabini, you're too soft on Gryffindorks, all 'cause of that little slut you hang out with." Draco had turned on his own team.
Upon hearing his words, Harry and the Weasley twins lunged for the blonde. Blaise, the more rational of the group, attempted to hold them back with the assistance of the three Gryffindor chasers.
"Don't you dare speak about her!"
"You'll pay for that one, Malfoy!"
However, they were unable to hold back George as he sprinted over to Malfoy before pulling his arm back and landing a punch to his face. Draco fell backwards and George clamoured on top of him, punching the boy senseless.
