The warm sun heated everything it touched, including the rippling surface of the Black Lake, the overgrown grass and the bodies basking in its rays.

The sound of birds chirping were heard overhead in and amongst the green leaved trees. The green shrubbery that blanketed the ground provided a pleasant itch against the smooth skin of the two girls that hid between the blades of grass.

Vulpecula and Hermione had been out by the Black Lake all day. They awoke with the sun protruding through their curtains and had quickly changed into summer appropriate attire and rushed down to the lakeside with the motive of making the most of the summer day.

Vulpecula wore dark blue denim shorts with an old Quidditch t-shirt that George had given to her when he'd grown to tall for it. Hermione wore a blue dress that was decorated with a small pattern of red roses, her frizzy hair was pulled back into a loose bun at the nape of her neck.

The two girls laid sprawled out on the grass that was peppered with flowers, reading a muggle book each. The girls enjoyed embracing their relation to muggles together, whether that be reading, playing muggle games or just sharing the memories of their upbringing in the muggle world.

While they could also do this with Harry, he was, more often than not, uninterested with reminiscing on muggle life. Understandably so, considering the horrible life provided by his Aunt and Uncle.

The sun bounced off of the surface of the water, creating an artwork of moving rainbows. Slight splashing came from the distance where first years were enjoying their first Hogwarts summer in the shallow beach-like area of the Black Lake.

"Have you spoken to Harry recently?" Hermione spoke up, bringing Vulpecula's attention away from her book.

She shook her head slightly, sitting up, with a tight-lipped frown. "No actually, I haven't seen much of him."

Unbeknownst to the two girls, Harry had been isolating himself purposely. The boy was growing more and more nervous about his final task and after finding the body of Barty Crouch in the forest after his second task, he'd been cautious around everyone and everything.

"It's a shame, maybe he's just preparing himself for the task?" Hermione's attempt at hopeful words came out more as a question, as if asking Vulpecula.

"Probably, we shouldn't worry too much."

Hermione gave a halfhearted smile to her friend before her attention was pulled by something behind Vulpecula.

Seeing Hermione's eyes fix onto something and her face light up, Vulpecula whipped her head around to face Ron walking over to them, she too had a smile grow.

"Hey Ronald!" She called out to him and he picked up his pace as he strode over.

The redhead took a seat next to Hermione on the grass and laid back, letting out a long breath. Hermione looked down at the boy with a confused expression, she brought a finger to his face and poked his cheek making him snap his eyes open and raise his head.

"Mione, what?"

"What's up with you?" Hermione laughed.

"Tired." Ron stated simply before settling back into his lazy position. "Oh, by the way, V, Blaise and Nott are looking for you, I told them you'd probably be out here, I dunno if they'll listen."

Vulpecula chuckled slightly at Ron's last statement. She wondered what the Slytherin boys needed from her, she'd seen Blaise the day before and Theodore seemed to be avoiding her after their interaction in the cupboard.

She was so focused on her internal questioning that she hadn't noticed Hermione spot two familiar Slytherins walking down the hill from the castle. Hermione waved over to them and Blaise waved back.
