It was finally the day of the All Valley competition. It was the same auditorium as last year which brought Cherish some comfort. The girl liked surprises but knowing what she was getting herself into brought more comfort and at the moment that's all she needed.
After a week's worth of recovering from being sick, and lots of last-minute practices Cherish felt prepared. There was a lot of pressure going into the competition, the bet between the four senseis of the three dojos felt like a life-or-death situation. Or at least that's how it felt when they described needing to win.
Cherish had a few minutes before she would have to go into the arena to change like the rest of the teens participating. Cherish says goodbye to her parents before going looking for people she recognized.
Standing at the side of the entrance Miguel spots Cherish and walks over to her, "Hey"
"Hiya babe," Cherish smiles wrapping her arms around his shoulder to kiss him
"You nervous?" Miguel asks leaning back, his hands roaming to Cherish's jeans back pockets
"Shattered," Cherish sighs playing with the ends of his long hair, she had yet to tell him but his long hair made him very very attractive
"Shattered?" Miguel questions not expecting that word
"My parents roped me into watching some British show last night." Cherish shrugs the best she could with her arms still resting on his shoulders "Shattered. Meaning I'm hella nervous... i think"
"You're gonna do great. After all, I'm not here to watch some guy named Xander win the tournament," Miguel says bringing a bright smile to Cherish's face as he was vaguely repeating the words she'd told him last year
"Well I'm actually here to see last year's winner, you think he's single?" Cherish smiles with a raised brow, both teens in their own bubble
"No, I think he's happily taken"
"Bummer..." Cherish whispers with a smile "for all the girls, gays, and theys out there"
"Bummer," Miguel repeats with a smile all his worries from the past months having vanished every time he was near her. Miguel knew that while things were rocky with him and his sensei, Cherish was there and always on his side even if she wasn't there physically, "I love you"
