Cherish has talked about people in the past disappointing her - just never said any names. That is until one day the couple went grocery shopping for Rosa who needed some last-minute ingredients for dinner later that day.
Cherish had her focus on the grocery list she had taken a photo of in case they'd lose it. All the while Miguel pushed the shopping cart as they walked down the cookie aisle - halfway done with their list
"What are ejotes?" Cherish asks reading the food name on the list it sounds familiar but having no translation for it
"Green beans" Miguel answers grabbing the cookies and crackers that were on the list
"Are we getting frozen or fresh ones?" Cherish questions not being the one who knows the Diaz fridge
"Frozen, she always gets the yellow bag," Miguel says not knowing the brand name but knowing what the bag looked like
Turning around the corner Cherish spots an ex's mom making the teen girl's eyes widen not wanting to be spotted. A sense of dread in her stomach Cherish turns to her boyfriend and whispers, "Move..."
"What?" Miguel asks and not doing what Cherish had requested
The woman walks over to the couple with a harmless smile "Cherish, is that you?"
"Hi Mrs. Santini" Cherish replies with a big fake smile that Miguel had seen a handful of times meaning they were about to enter an awkward situation
"It's been so long, how have you been?" Mrs. Santini asks the grey in her hair noticeable
"Good, really good." Cherish simply answers without going into detail about how the past two and a half years had been "How uh how are you?"
"Great. The whole family has missed you. Who's this?" Mrs. Santini asks in a tone both kids knew all too well for different reasons
"This is my boyfriend, Miguel," Cherish answers while every part of her just wanted to run and stop being nice to the woman "We actually have to go make lunch"
