Cherish did not like celebrating her birthday - that was something that people who know her knew about her. Just because she didn't like celebrating her birthday didn't mean she didn't want people to not acknowledge that she was born that day. Lucky for her she had a family that never forgot her birthday. Each year since she'd get a phone call from her extended family members who wasn't in the same city and would send her birthday wishes - with a promise that they'd celebrate once they were together and that their presents should be arriving soon.
Cherish always kept her bedroom door closed every time she went to sleep. Mainly because if her door was open in the morning Genome would open her door with his paw and jump on her bed stepping on her sleeping body just staring waiting for her to wake up and pet him.
Her birthday morning started with Genome opening the door and jumping on Cherish's bed stepping on Cherish's leg with his thin heavy Australian Shepherd leg. Cherish tries to ignore her dog but it was too late because her alarm start to blare, moving to press snooze only made Genome lay down and put his face close to Cherish's.
Before the dog can lick her face Cherish opens her eyes and puts her hand on the golden dog's face, "Good morning Genome. Hi"
There was no way Cherish could go back to sleep, especially since Genome gets mad if she goes back to sleep.
In a yellow satin flannel pajama top and tie-dye shorts, Cherish walks out into the kitchen.
Odette was now in the early stages of her second trimester and that meant her cravings were starting to get weird. It's why Cherish couldn't help but stand still at the sight of her mom drizzling mustard on a slice of watermelon.
"Mom... what are you eating?"
"Watermelon, do you want some?" Odette offers Cherish a bite of the watermelon piece with mustard on it
"Um..." Cherish looks over at her dad wondering if he had tried it since a lot of her weird cravings he always gave it a shot. Some of the food combinations Odette had craved were winners and others just belonged in the trash
