(F. Jesse's POV)
After winning the Lava Race event, Hadrian stormed off angrily to the palace. That's when Slab walked up to me shouting at me for making Hadrian upset, and that he wanted to see me in the palace. I walked beside Slab as he led me through the thick snow and to the palace. We arrived at the main entrance and Slab opened up the door.'Here we go, more deals I suppose.' I thought to myself.
I followed Slab up the stairs and into a ling hallway. I looked off to the side and saw what I believed to be Mevia's office. Turning my head, I saw Otto's office right across the hall. The two were very busy working, so I didn't bother disturbing them. They also looked a bit sleep deprived, which made me think Hadrian had been piling work on them for the past few nights. I wanted to ask, but I wouldn't want Hadrian getting upset with them even more than he already is.
When we reached the end of the hallway, we were greeted by a big archway made of obsidian and sea lanterns. The office was just as impressive with a huge yellow stained glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Quite impressive decor for someone as old as Hadrian.
"Woah," I said in awe as I looked around the office.
Slab nodded, "Totally epic right?"
I nodded.
"Sometimes, I like to stand here and..." he took a deep breath before exhaling, "Just do that a whole bunch."
I walked forward, "This place is incredible. Such amazing use of scale and angles."
"Right? Knew you'd be impressed," he said crossing his arms across is broad chest, "I get fo hang out here whenever I want. And thanks to you helping us stay on track, we have some time to enjoy the place. I'll go find Hadrian."
He turned to walk away, but turning back immediately and warning me,
"Oh, and don't touch anything!"
I rolled my eyes as I explored the office. That's when I saw it. There on an obsidian platform that held its armor stand, was Tim's armor. I walked a little bit closer to the platform but was startled when I heard Hadrian walk up behind me.
"So, I see you've gravitated towards Tim's armor. I bet you've heard all about him," Hadrian said with a small smirk coming across his lips.
I rolled my eyes, "Repeatedly."
"Everyone looks up to him. After all, he's Tim," Hadrian continued.
I sighed, "Just get to the point, is Tim even real?"
"I knew you were a smart one, bucko," Hadrian chuckled, "Of course, he's not real."
He walked a little bit further into the office up to the quartz desk before continuing.
"You see, Tim is an inspiration. He gives people hope. He keeps everyone playing the Games, but no one ever wins, ever." Hadrian said.
He turned to look back at me with a blankly cold expression. He then out a hand on my shoulder.
"Which is why I need you to play along," he said a but more huskily.
I rolled my eyes again, "And what if I don't?"
He pulled me closer to me and whispered in my ear,
"Then I won't let your friends free."
My eyes widened, "What do you mean?!"
"The Atlas can show us where everyone is from. So, I had Mevia pick up a few things from your world," Hadrian said as he led me to the quartz wall next to Tim's armor.
He flipped a hidden lever and a section of the wall came down. That's when I saw Axel and Olivia trapped inside obsidian cages.
"Let them go!" I shouted at him as he walked into the room.
