(Em's POV)
I looked over at Jesse and Petra in the locker room. Those two are so oblivious to the fact that these Games are nearly impossible to win. My team and I heard them gloating about how "easy" this was and that they were" gonna win this thing". I sighed as I turned to face my teammates."Alright, enough of that! We need to focus on the Game ahead of us!" I said encouragingly.
Nell pumped her fist in the air excitedly, "Yeah! We need to be like Tim!"
"That's right, Nell! And to be like Tim, we can't worry about other teams. We only need to worry about ourselves," I chuckled but it slowly turned into a more serious tone.
Nell and our other teammate nodded in agreement before going to prepare for the event. After a couple moments passed we heard the Old Builders coming on the intercom.
"Alright competitors, the next event is almost upon us! Time to head to the starting line!" Hadrian announced over the intercom.
I looked over at Jesse to see him stroking his chin a bit. He was completing what the event would be while Petra bounced excitedly at the thought of a racing event. Suddenly, Hadrian barged into the locker room which spooked every competitor, including myself. He waltzed over to Jesse and Petra and started to "interview" the duo.
Once his interview concluded, I decided that my team and I should go wish them good luck. When I started to walk over, Nell and our other teammate started to follow behind.
"Jesse, good luck out there," I started, causing him and Petra to turn and face me, "I'm sure you'll do great but... Well, everyone could always use a little dose of luck, right?"
Jesse smiled at me, "Thanks, Em. Good luck to you too."
"Of course... I saw what you could do in Spleef. Then you made that deal with Hadrian and I though," I let out a sigh, "An enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Petra gave me a confused look before whispering something to Jesse. That's when I suggested we work together. Although, I had a twist to it. You see, Hadrian isn't the only one who knows how to twist their words.
"One thing though. If you decide to team up with me, I want to hang with Petra in return. So what do you say?" I asked.
Jesse looked over at Petra, who nodded at him. I could tell Jesse was a little suspicious of me, but decided to go for it.
"You have a deal!" he answered finally.
I smirked, "Great! See you in Gladiator Junction!"
Before anymore could be said, Hadrian's voice came over the intercom to announce the start of the race. With that, Jesse, Petra, my team, and I headed over to our respective starting lines.
During the race, I had to contemplate whether or not to keep my deal with Jesse and break my deal with Hadrian, or keep my deal with Hadrian and break my deal with Jesse. I decided to go for the former because I really wanted my way with Petra.
By the end of the race, Jesse, Petra, my team, and I had crossed the finish line together. Although Hadrian had gotten angry about me breaking my deal, Jesse and Petra were grateful. With that, we all headed back to the village together.
When we arrived back, Petra and I split off from the rest of the group. I led Petra into the vacant read team dorm, locking the door behind us. I walked over to Petra and we sat on the bed together. I blushed a bit as scooted closer to Petra.
"So, what do you want to do?" I asked.
Petra shrugged, "Don't know. I'm up for anything actually!"
"Anything?" I asked, a little more seductively.
