this poem is about a parent forgetting their child due to disease.

You were the light of my life

The reason for my smile

But now I can't remember you

Even for a little while

You look at me with love and pain

You try to make me see

But the disease has taken over

And erased your memory from me

I wish I could hold you close

And tell you how I feel

But the words are locked inside my heart

And nothing seems real

You are still my precious child

Even if I don't know your name

You are still a part of me

Even if I'm not the same

Please don't give up on me

Please don't lose hope

Please don't let go of our bond

Please help me cope

You are the light of my life

The reason for my smile

And maybe someday I'll remember you

Even for a little while.
